Yep, never said all democrats are anti-gun. I still chuckle when I remember those images of Kerry in his orange vest trying to appear pro-gun rights.
Check out his voting record.

Anyone even want me to post the voting record of Obama or Hillary? It will make you cry. I just can't understand how someone can belong to a party that is the enemy of our constitutional rights.
Heck, I'm not even republican anymore. I've decided Bush is way too liberal for me.

When talking about Democrats, we have to remember that there is quite the difference between Southern Dem's and all the rest.
It was Southern Dem's that helped get Reagan elected by such a wide margin.
Many Texas Dem's are pro RKBA.
Many New England Republicans are anti.
Heck, I would probably vote for a NM Dem over a NY or Mass R. any day.

Can't say I agree. NM's Governor, running for prez, protected our house democrats when they ran and hid like cowards to avoid voting when the law came after them. Recall that?
Reagan didn't need any help in 80, or 84. I'm not good at much other than computers, and reagan history. I wanted to name my first born after him. Got shot down by my wife. Reagan carried 44 states in 80. Cripes, he even carried NY. Southern democrats in the election would not have even been considered "window dressing." Matter of fact, he could have lost every traditional southern state in the country, republican or democrat, and easily won. Did I mention he won CommieCalifornia?

Liberty is a Libertarian. Very much not a Democrat when it comes to gun issues.

I seem to remember the Texas dems swam the Red River into Okieland, not New Mexico.... really doesn't take away from the fact they made total fools of themselves in the process.

My memory might not be perfect. but I beleive they bailed out twice that year. The first time to Oklahoma. I believe there were some extradition fears, so they went to New Mexico where Governor Richardson would protect them.

When you elect a local Democrat, even a good one, to congress, you empower the NATIONAL party leadership such as Reid, Schumer, Clinton, Conyers, Lautenberg, McCarthy, etc. The overwhelming majority of these people are enemies of the 2A, and also of us.
There's no gettin' around it.
People in several states made this mistake in 2006 when they elected people like Heath Schuler, John Testor, etc. These guys are pro-gun Democrats, but their election put the whole crew of ANTI-gun Democrats in place as committee chairmen.
The result is that while we still have pro-gun majorities, the anti-gun party leadership will prevent any good bills (of significance) from being passed.
We were lucky to preserve the Tiehart Amendment this year, for instance.

I was responding to DaveT, not liberty. I'm well aware that Liberty is a Ron Paul supporter and I've spoken to it on other threads. I like alot of what Ron Paul says. He made some critical errors/comments in the recent debate that has sunk his shot IMHO.

I might also refer DaveT to the American Rifleman NRA magazine that came out this week. Page 12, by Wayne LaPierre. "most dangerous threat to American liberty yet." Referring to Clinton, Obama, Conyers, Pelosi, Schumer, and Soros. Now what do those folks all have in common?

Then you should have quoted DaveT instead of Liberty.

Perhaps I spoke incorrectly then. Regardless, it would would be for the greater good. I put people like Kennedy and Boxer slightly under osama bin laden and child molesters.

Thank you captain obvious.
It is probably best that I not get political on this forum and just let the thread die. If I actually said what I would like to see happen to the democratic party and particular politicians..I'd be arrested. That would seriously infringe on my range time.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I was curious as to the "party" that the 13 texas house opponents of the castle doctrine were?
Burman
Coleman
Dukes
Dutton
Farrar
Hernandez
Hodge
Howard
Caraway
McClendon
Miles
Moreno
Thompson.
I know some folks said "southern democrats" are different.
Well, 100% of those voting against were....(dramatic pause) Democrats!

I'll beat the dead horse.
Lets say that instead of Kerry receiving the '04 Democratic nomination
Paul Helmke did. Who do you think most of the "pro gun" democrats would vote for if the '04 election was between Helmke and George W Bush?
My point is there are a great deal of pro gun Democrats who will vote for democrats before republicans, regardless of how they stand on the issues.
