I would highly recommend a Glock 30. It's a fantastic carry gun, easily concealed, and you can have 10-11 rounds of .45!

Oh and its a Glock!

Everyone should own at least one 1911. Either that or some sorta .22lr just for plinking, ie. Ruger MKIII or Browning Buckmark. (expecially with ammo prices these days)

How about the Kel-Tec PLR-16? It's fun as heck to shoot! I love mine, cranks out .223's as fast as you can pull the trigger. About $450.

S&W M&P comes in 9, 40, 45, and in full size and compact. Very accurate and fun to shoot. Husband just got Division champ at IDPA regionals with the 45.

1911 of course

If not a 1911, consider a HiPower.

I will be buying a new one this weekend at the FW show.

Current Line-up:
Glock 26 9mm (carry gun)
Glock 19 9mm
HK P2000 9mm
Glock 23 40S&W
Sig Sauer 229 40S&W

Considering: Glock 21SF .45, HKP2000 SK 40 or 357sig, other suggestions?
Dude, you need a .45 for your collection. I can't say that I'd personally buy a $400-$650 1911 though, it seems that the lower priced 1911's suffer from reliability issues. That said, I've heard good things about those new Taurus 1911's, and Bud's Gun Shop had them for around $470 at one time.

CDNN has USP Compacts in .45 for $699, I know that's a little above your limit but it's an accurate and reliable weapon. You might also consider a USP Compact in .357 Sig, CDNN has those for $589 right now.

Not necessarily in this order, but 1911, XD in some caliber, and try and new S&W M&P.

Of all of the above I like the M&P the best. It points like my 1911(s), but has had no failures in 300 rounds thus far (in 9MM).

I just got a buggie (S&W 340PD in .357 and weights like 14 oz or something like that). I can't wait to try it out (I don't know about .357's though, I could need a cast after a few rounds LOL).

Since you don't like 1911's and wheel guns I'll echo a few others and say and M&P in caliber of your choice or a Hi Power.

May I ask what is it about 1911's and revolvers you don't like?

Since you've already got three 9mms. how about a real classic, the Browning High Power? I'd suggest the Mk III version with fixed sights.

Otherwise, a good 1911 is always a nice addition to a collection . . . but it's been my observation that in your price range, the odds are higher that you'll get one with some sort of functioning problems. (I can hear the howls of indignation now . . . )

Howl #1

Both Kimber and Springfield among others offer models that fit within this price range that are very reliable. The Springfield Mil-spec and GI series are very reliable guns, and in my limited experience and opinion some of the best buys in a 1911 platform.

Thread jack finished.

I have to disagree there. The lower end ones might suffer from accuracy issues at 25+yds but they are reliable, maybe more so than the tight fitted tack drivers at the upper end. I have RIA that was $400 new never jammed. Same with the $500 Springfield. Only 1 I have jamming is an old SA Defender but it is worn out from previous abuse. Good mags are a must though.

I agree. A GI-spec Rock Island or Springfield might rattle a little, but they'll go "bang" every time and function perfectly with FMJ (and most HP). Lots of reports out there about $800-1,200 Kimbers that have to make multiple trips back to the factory before they're reliable.

You need a Sig P220 to give you an excellent .45 cal. Besides, you do not have enough Sigs, but too many Glocks.
