ms gamboolgal went from S&W's revolvers for about 30 years before going to Sig Sauer and in a very short time to her present EDC of G-26 with a Red Dot.
It took a long time but ms gamboolgal finally went to Glocks on her own accord.
I would recommend the Sig Sauer P-938 as a alternative to Glock 26 for your wife? Really suggest you get her a Baby Glock.
We both EDC G-26's, and have SBR(s) that takes Glock Mags for beside the bed and the vehicle. Just saying all the same mag's.....
But if need be then:
S&W J-frames
Sig Sauer
gamboolman....
Thank God for Them Texas Gals

I have a Glock 43 that I can let her try if you think it might work. We can meet at a range one Saturday. I also have a Sig P230 compact which is a little bigger but still concealable. Most of the rest of my pistols are full size so she might not be interested.
In San Antonio, I usually use Bracken range but have tried the new indoor one at 1604 and Lockhill-Selma.

The S&W EZ models are easier to rack and load mags as some have mentioned. But it's more important that she can shoot it well and it is comfortable to her. My wife hated the feel of the EZ for example. Loves the PPQ though which has a grip that is a little smaller and only marginally harder to rack. Best to let her fondle several and then shoot a couple that feel good to find the right one.

Sig p938, one of the best shorting compacts on the market
This would be my choice as well but it is a bit snappy

My wife and daughter both like the Star BM. Heavy, and gets no bragging points, but pleasant to shoot and reliable. Wife carried it before getting her Kimber Pro Carry.

Can’t believe nobody mentioned sig p365. Lightweight, very compact, 10+1 of 9mm, reliable, shoots great for a small pistol.

I will 2nd, 3rd or whatever
The SW Shield EZ 9 or .380
Either are very similar and since 9 ammo is cheaper you may just go that way
If your in Houston area and can get to PSC Range in Friendswood I’d be happy to let her shoot both of those as well as others - if she wants to feel and try them prior to buying one
If this is of interest - PM me

I don't remember his name, but there is a comedian who uses the line, "I got a new gun for my wife; best trade I ever made!"

My wife carries a G43 and shoots it just fine.

I am partial to Glocks mainly for their simplicity and reliability. But, if she is a new shooter you will have to help her build trigger discipline, It frightens some people that Glocks do not have a safety. I recommend a 26, which is the smallest double stack. They will accommodate any mag from 11 up to the huge 33 round "happy stick".
Until they are well broken in, Glock slides require some muscle to pull. Install a "Brass Stacker" loop on the back of the slide and she can charge the pistol using just a finger while pushing the gun forward. One of the best parts of owning Glocks is they seem to piss off so many other gun owners who insist on talking smack to you at the range.

Recently picked up a Sig P365, it's an amazing little gun. It's become my EDC, and the wife also likes it, so will be buying another for her when I come across one at at decent price. Also have the Hellcat, which I like, but it's a bit larger and heavier, and is more "snappy" with a worse trigger than the Sig out of the box. She doesn't like it.....
