It was a crappy wait, but it feels so good to finally be one of the clan....only one thing that I would do differently...apply 2 years ago!!!!!

My advice to anyone still waiting-be patient. It'll get there when it gets there. Keep calling and emailing the right folks, and something will happen.

I sent an e-mail to the CHL Bureau and they said that background checks are delayed. I'm not happy. My ability to defend myself and family is being curtailed. Two sensless murders this week in the Houston area. I am hoping that it will shake loose soon.

I never heard back from the interim director so I sent a second request to the Govenor's office... The response has been nil. I did hear from Representative Eissler's office today. His office advised that they had contacted the DPS concerning my application and they (DPS) indicated that they would try to expedite same. I also received a V/M from the DPS office concerning the application. I returned the call but had to leave a message.. Looks like contacting the state rep is the route to take. Hopefully this will get resolved soon.. At this point I would just like for someone to take ownership/accountability and give me a reasonable expectation of when I can expect to receive the license... The DPS motto is "Courtesy, Service, Protection". I appreciate the courtesy they extend and the protection that they afford..Now, I would like some SERVICE please.

Congratulations. 111 days is too long, but it could certainly have been worse.

This may be a dumb question, but do we count weekend days(Sat./Sun.) in the day count or is it just weekdays?
If it's every day(including weekends) I found a pretty cool online calculator for that.

For those applicants delayed by "Ike", I recommend contacting your Rep and asking them to personally contact DPS in Harris County to help move your BC along. With only ONE Trooper processing BC's for Harris County, the backlog could take quite a long time to work off. The Rep's need to push DPS to allocate more staffing resources.

I mailed my complete renewal packet on 10/3/2008 and received my license today (postmark 12/4). I didn't follow it on line, although I have worn a path to the mailbox the last couple weeks. :)
