I guess patience (if that is what you could call it) has paid off!

12 Jan 2008 Took CHL class and passed
04 Feb 2008 Mailed packet to Austin

Status

up to 22 Feb 2008 "PACKET MAILED TO APPLICANT"
22 Feb 2008 to 25 April 2008 "PROCESSING APPLICATION"
25 April 2008 - 'APPLICATION COMPLETED - LICENSE ISSUED OR CERTIFICATE ACTIVE"

I was going to email the group Friday, when the DPS website changed, but I decided not to jump the gun (no pun intended) and make sure that I received my plastic. Well that beautiful card came in the mail yesterday (Tuesday, April 29 2008).

So, as far as number of days go, here is the breakdown:

82 Days from the time that I submitted my package until the Status Change
59 Days from the status "PROCESSING APPLICATION" to "'APPLICATION COMPLETED - LICENSE ISSUED OR CERTIFICATE ACTIVE"

Thanks to all for your encouragement! For those of you who are still waiting, even though the time drags on and on, when your plastic finally arrives, what are you going to do with the time that you spent checking the status on the DPS site?

I know - plenty of time to do the Wally Walk!

Took class: 3/1/2008
Mailed app: 3/3/2008
Received pin: 4/29/2008................58 days

I'm happy for the small things. At least i know they got it. I might even make it though the process before the fall election. Yea!

Just to recap...

I of course do not have that one virtue

Late February (???) - Applied online...
March 7 - Received application and PIN from DPS
March 8 - Completed CHL Course
March 28 - Mailed application to DPS (certified return receipt)
April 9 (on or about) - Status change to "Processing Application"
April 30 - Processing Application (Day 22)

Meantime: practice, , practice, , practice, and some more

someone needs to get their act together

To those of you who have your CHL license; Do they use the passport photo on the license, or do they use the photo that they digitally captured when you renewed your drivers license? Also, does the Texas CHL look similar to the current Drivers License, or does it look like the old style laminated licenses.

They will use your passport photo that was submitted with the application.

As for looking like the drivers license, they look different (color, placement, background, etc.) but are not 'laminated'; they are imprinted on the plastic similar to the drivers license.

I personally wish they would put the info on your drivers license and that way you would wouldn't have to carry two cards. Missouri does it that way.

They look and feel like they came out of the same machine but the design is different.

Well my on-line status has changed to "Processing Application". I know its one small step, but its one step closer.

new and improved update!!! guess what came in the mail today??? picture is even more dorky on the plastic than it was when the guy took it. BUT IT IS HERE AND I AM OUTTA THIS ROOM!!!!! timeline from the day i took class 2-2-08 to today 5-2-08---91 calendar days!!!! guess i have to plan my wally walk now!!!! GOD BLESS TEXAS!!! YAHOO!!!!!
