Trump has drawn more voters to his campaign than any Republican candidate in the last 40 years, he has put states that have always gone Democrat in play this Election cycle, he has caused Union members to cross over and vote Republican because they have seen the Democrats send their jobs to foreign lands and give the remaining jobs to illegals. Lose this Election? No Trump beat 17 other candidates and had more than 2/3 of the delegates than his closest rival (Cruz) Trump will be the President if the establishment doesn't have him killed to protect their gravy train!

The Clinton campaign can save their money. The republicans will destroy their party for them. Every election cycle the GOP fields 12 or so prospective candidates who focus most their time and energy destroying their fellow candidates (and as the field narrows, the mud slinging intensifies) and very little time and energy trying to tear down their democrat opponents. The end result is there is so much negative surrounding the eventual candidate, even the party faithful have a problem supporting him. The dems don't have to beat us, we do most of the work ourselves.

It will come as quite a shock to the so-called "Republican elite" that Cruz is really one of them. Who knew?

I don't understand the vitriol over Cruz. He didn't use the "e" word. So what? If he refuses to participate with Trump in the campaign, that might be a different story.

I wonder if there is a "Republican elite." I've followed Republican Party politics for more than 50 years, and don't recall ever hearing the term, certainly not as a pejorative. There were "RINOS", "striped pants Republicans", "Rockefeller Republicans", etc. Everybody needs a bogeyman to rally themselves against.

If Trump wins, it will be with a great many votes unenthusiastically cast by those who wish there was a better choice. Maybe he will get there the old fashioned way, by "earning it."
I agree with you. Mr. Cruz is not part of the Republican elite or establishment. I am not vitriolic toward Sen. Cruz. I am disappointed. I wanted to see him rise above all this and show leadership and give the party direction to overcome the Clinton plague. He did not do that.

The Republican party has had it's factions for as long as I can remember. What I have seen in my 68 years is the rise of the political ruling class and it is not bound by party lines, values, platforms or such. They are not bogeymen or bogeywomen. They are bound by the desire for power and the will to retain it at all costs.

:iagree: That's what I was trying to say! Thanks. The proper words eluded my not fully caffeinated brain.

Anyone who agrees with what he is says shouldn't feel that way at all. It's preaching to the choir. But that's what you do when you want your party to support you. Considering what he is preaching I am glad to hear it in stark contrast to what we've had to the last 7-8 years, both from democrats and the majority of republicans.

Two things that I am certain of after Cruz's speach at the RNC:

1. I am voting Trump in 2016.
2. I am voting Cruz in 2020, RNC officials believe he is going to run in 2020 whether or not there is a Trump presidency. Right now I believe he will and I support it.

Cruz may very well be running for president of the Free Republic of Texas by 2020.

I fully agree. It's not important to most people, but I don't endorse Trump either.

The fact that Sen Cruz did not verbally endorse Trump makes me feel better about his character. How many of us would have endorsed Trump if we were characterized the way Trump did Sen Cruz and his family. To do do it would probably have been a lie. The good of "the party" should come second to moral character. Has he finished his political career? Maybe. But he can stand tall and say "I tried". I know it will never happen but Trump really needs to reach out to Sen Cruz and apologize for his actions and words in the campaign.

I have often wondered if Trump's only motive for disrupting our elective process is to assure Hillary a win? Will I vote for him? As of right now, yes. He scares me a little less than Hillary does. :totap: :banghead:

I wasn't playing any word games. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of criticizing Cruz for breaking his pledge as if Trump didn't also break his pledge.
It's not hypocrisy, unless you have a sliding scale on your integrity. I do not. If I give my word, I keep it. I expect the same of others, especially if they want my support in some fashion.

Lyin Ted proved Trump correct. Cruz cannot be trusted. And he is now causing me to do something I have only done once in my life and thought I would never do again. Make a political donation to a Democrat. The first was to the man who is now my brother in law. This one will be to the person running against Cruz for his senate seat.

And to think that I actually supported Cruz in the Republican primary. He is just a lying little weasel. Maybe Hitlery will reward him with some type of appointment once she gets the presidency.

So the actual statement made during the debates was " Senator Cruz, yes or no, you will support Donald Trump is he's the nominee?"

I think you can support someone without officially endorsing them - he did speak at the RNC, where he did garner attention, denounce democrats, and did not say anything negative about Trump.
I believe someone in Trump's camp also asked if he would help Trump with his SC appointees, and Ted said he would give input, if asked, to ensure people who uphold the Constitution are put into SCOTUS. That sounds like support to me.

Does anybody really think that Ted Cruz's speech is gonna cost Trump the election? People are saying that even the VP picks are irrelevant. I agree. The only thing that matters is Trump vs Clinton. They only thing that might win or lose the election for Trump is his own words. That's the only thing that really matters or anyone will remember when they go to the voting booth.
