I guess I need to post mine. Chewy is short for Chewbacca from Star Wars. I love Star Wars and it was a nickname in high school. The 555 is from when I was younger when my Mom carried a pager and 555 was how she knew it was me that was paging her, she gave it to me. So I just put the 2 together and came up with this.

My screen name is simple. My first name is Amber and unfortunately, I've been diagnosed Bipolar Type II.Thus I can be pretty 'moody'.I've had the nickname 'Moody" since high school. So I just put them together and there ya go.

Welcome Amber. Being Bipolar, how difficult was it to get your CHL? Did DPS give you any headache?

In an earlier thread, she said she was delayed until her medical records could be reviewed.

Yes it was a PITB to get my CHL but in the end they gave it to me.I completely understand why they had to go through the procedures that they did in my specific case, but it was still frustrating.

I took my CHL class Aug 5th,mailed my application the first part of Sept and received my PIN a month later arond the first part of Oct. I had a formal letter from my doctor included in my application saying he thought I was capable of owning/storing/handling/carrying a firearm etc. After that, another month goes by and I get a big thick questionaire packet from the DPS that I have to give my phychiatrist to fill out and include my most recent medical records(the most current 6 months worth). All of this info was forwarded to the Medical Advisory Board (which consists of a few doctors and lawyers to make sure the DPS is covering their collective legal bases.) Finally after another month and a half goes by and I receive my CHL mid to late January.

I'm assuming that this is going to be the standard procedure when renewing my license too. :???:

It was a headache and very frustrating waiting and counting down the days just as most people do,except I had a valid reason for denial and was crossing my fingers that they'd license me.Thank God my psych. doc is pro gun and had no issues what so ever about helping me out.He wrote the letter verbatim on what I was capable of doing from the DPS laws book and filled out all the paperwork and med. records stuff in a very timely manner.Afterwards he was wating with me asking me every time I saw him if I'd gotten my license or not.Thank God for cool doctors!

Thanks. It is interesting to read how the process went.

KBCraig, thanks for your response too. I guess I missed the other thread.

"Ace" was a name that my great-grandmother gave me. See gave everyone on my mom's side of the family a name at birth. Mine and my younger brother's were some of the last one's she gave. I never thought much of it up until she died. So, in honor of her, I now use it just about everywhere. "Crazy" because that is what my grandma (dad's side) called my after deciding to join the Army, lol. The two seem to fit.

In my teenage years I was really into car audio and I use to compete in sound-offs and db drags( google them  ) and I would only use one cd...it was called KillerQuad so that has been my screen name pretty much for everything. I actually used to use KillerQuad7 which has a double meaning, killerquad which was explained, and Quad7 meaning four 7s which is my bday 7-7-77 and none of you better forget to get me a gift. Eventually I got lazy and dropped the 7 so there you go.
