Since I jumped right into another conversation, I guess I better make this formal.
I'm a 35-year old, married for almost 13 years, father of 3 kids - two daughters, one son. By calling and vocation, I am a Lutheran pastor. My avocations are woodworking and firearms. I'm working towards my CHL (class this Saturday). A relative newcomer to the Gulf Coast, I've lived in the Houston metro area for the past 5 years.
I don't carry yet, but in the line-up for the home team will be a 3" Ruger SP101, S&W MP9, Springfield 1911, and (hopefully) some pocket ballast yet to be decided.
I appreciate a place where we, as Texans, can discuss the rights & privileges of weapons and licenses to carry.
Peace,
Quoheleth
("The Preacher")

Welcome, Quoheleth! Looks like us Lutherans are gaining on the Baptists here!
Glad to have you here, and hope you find a carry method that works for you.

We will take all Christians of any persuasion. Only reason I am not a Lutheran is they wont let me preach in Jeans

& make me stand still.

That's true. The only time I've seen a Baptist preacher still he was the subject of the eulogy.
Welcome quoheleth! We have a lot of pastors here; I think longtooth and Carlson1 are calling in reinforcements to gang up on me.

Check with upinirons - he's a fellow Lutheran who wears not only Wranglers, but boots to boot! But, he did go to the *other* Seminary, out in the wilds of Indiana instead of civilized St. Louis, so that have something to do with it.
I've gotta stand still...my kevlar-lined pulpit with twin Remington 1100s is too heavy to carry all across the chancel

I love this guy!

I want you, Longtooth and Carlson1 to preach my funeral. It'll be the first time the preachers did the 21 gun salute!

Man, there's a joke in there somewhere. Let's see... 'Two Baptist ministers and a Lutheran priest go to preach the funeral of a lawyer.....'

Howdy.
Today I purchased my first firearm. It's a Springfield XD 9mm subcompact which will be my carry weapon after I complete a training course on April 19 and wait for the plastic in the mail.
I've been lurking around here for a couple of days and am thoroughly impressed with the breadth of knowledge and experience found within this forum.
I am 23, a software engineer by profession, and a Fighting Texas Aggie class of 2007, WHOOP!
I currently reside in College Station, TX employed at Texas A&M University. Again, WHOOP!
Anyway, I look forward to continuing to learn from you and hopefully some day to provide my experience for another new-to-the-scene CHLer.

Welcome Jcarouth, we glad you joined us.
You'll love the XD and I hope your wait will be shorter than many have been. If your schedule permits, consider coming to the TSRA Annual Meeting and meet some of the TexasCHLforum crew.

This gives me something to live a little longer far.

point of order -- Lutherans (at least the ones I know, and I was one for nearly fifty years) don't have priests; they have either ministers or pastors.

Now, if I did that the Martin Luther bust on my desk would turn around and moon me. Can't have that now, can we?
Welcome, Jcarouth.
