Well that's certainly encouraging news, don't you think? That's great! Congrats! BTW, what county are you in??? Your signature line doesn't specify.

sorry, I'm in Hays county.

Day 105 for me now. I've kept mostly quite so far and have refrained from calling or contacting elected officials. I have however sent 3 emails to DPS requesting an update on my status, all since I passed 90 days and all of which have gone unanswered. Now I'm seeing people in June already getting their licenses and I'm starting to get upset. I'm not even in Harris or one of the other notoriously long counties down along the coast. I've lived in the same house, same job, both in the same county for the last 5 years, and have never been arrested. This shouldn't be a difficult app to process.
I'm not going to be silent any more. I just emailed my State Representative, Senator, and the Governor. I'll be calling DPS tomorrow and the others as well if I don't get a response to my email. I'm also going to send in the form letter requesting a denial hearing that Charles posted. It might not get it done any sooner, but at least I'll feel like I'm doing something about it.

I have been told that for at least two weeks now. I called today and the same lady I have talked to the last two times told me that their system was down today and it might be up tomorrow. She told me last week that everything was approved and she was going to hand it over to a "supervisor" to go to print and that I should have it in a week or so. I saw in the April thread that this response was given to one other guy who actually got his in a week. So we'll see, but I'm no longer holding my breath.
She also told me today that my "on-line" status would continue to show "Processing Application" even though all is approved and it's gone to print.
BTW, I'm in Tarrant County and they received my application 5/11/09 - for what it's worth!
That's the part that makes me wonder. Mine still shows processing application. So either she's blowing smoke or they never update these things. I guess I'll find out in the next two weeks.

from my understanding , your status won't change to "complete" until the license is finished printing , and put in the outgoing mail .

Well the waiting game continues... it's been 113 days since DPS received my application, but given the clock may not start until PIN is issued, PIN received 70 days ago... 60 days +... So I called... per the customer service representative, everything is in file and appears O.K. however, the tech was still completing the background check. DPS could not confirm an estimated time of completion...
05/02/2009 - CHL class completed
05/06/2009 - Mailed application to DPS
05/08/2009 - Return Receipt received from DPS
06/19/2009 - PIN received from DPS
08/23/2009 - Email sent to DPS requesting status
08/27/2009 - Called and spoke with DPS, application complete, but tech is still reviewing background check...
XX/XX/2009 - DPS email reply/response
XX/XX/2009 - Application Approved
XX/XX/2009 - Plastic in Hand
XX/XX/2009 - Wally Walk

Given all the recent updates from folks saying their license had "gone to print" I figured I'd check mine. As of today it's been 98 days since I dropped the app off at DPS in Austin. After several minutes on hold I talked with a lady who said my application had been "selected for printing". So, I guess I'm in the boat with a bunch of others now, just waiting on printing and delivery.
Shouldn't take more than another month or so, eh?
TRAVIS County --
13 May 2009 - CHL class
21 May 2009 - Hand-carried application to DPS
25 Jun 2009 - PIN Received
27 Aug 2009 - When I called they said it had been "selected for printing"
-- Status still stuck at "Processing Application"
XX XXX 2009 - Application Approved
XX XXX 2009 - Plastic in Hand

Well, I called again. Their system was back up today. The lady told me that mine "has been sent to the manufacturer to print. You should see it in 2 weeks". Ohh kay. I suppose I'm back to the old two week wait AGAIN! Hey, at least I know it's there and this SHOULD be the last two week wait!
Tarrant County, Digital prints, Retired US Army w/good DD Form 214 - Lucky me nothing got rejected.

I called DPS today and finally got some different news. I was told that "everything was back and my chl should ship within a week" So let's see what happens next.

The tech also said my prosseces app will not change until it ships out. We will see.

Oddly enough, after sending the emails to my elected officials yesterday, DPS responded to an email I sent about 3 weeks ago and told me that they are waiting for my license to come back from the printers.

If your Reps are the same ones I have, good luck!! Heck I can not even get them to responed to me. I have emailed and sent certified letters. I guess they only want to talk to you when they want your vote! By the way I say this with a loose term of represent I am represented by Patrick and Riddle. Thanks for the help reps, not even a phoney I care about you letter, but there is nothing I can do!! I guess we will all be better when we just act like sheeple.
I also wrote the gov., I got some response about sending letter to dps head and wanted follow up with me and gov's office of course no word for weeks. Then when I wrote the gov again no response!! Imagine that!!! Just imagine if I did not pay my taxes how quickly I would get a vistor or a "letter".
Just loving the system!!!!
Apparently State Reps are in fact doing something about the pile of apps that have been backlogged for counties such as Harris, Brazoria, Galveston and surrounding counties. I called DPS to see were the background check was and was told pending field investigation from Harris County. The rep did suggest contacting my state rep, which I did. The next day I received a phone call from my State Rep's liaison, followed by Texas DPS (CHL Rep) regarding my application, as well as the rest of the region I fall under. According to the DPS agent before they would submit the BG checks to the county office, however recent legislative laws have changed the way BG's are conducted. She stated employees at the Austin office now have the ability to run the field investigations locally doing so will streamline the turnaround time for all 90+ Days that have been in Processing App.
She stated that once your status changes from Processing App, to Application Approved, Cert Issued.... this is when the plastic is on the way to your doorsteps. :txflag

And that would probably include ALL applications, once the backlog is worked through. That to me has major implication at getting them back on track for timely issuance of CHL's.

I hope you are right about getting somthing getting done about the back log.

I am also happy that you got a speedy response from your rep. I also know that not everybody is getting a response, be it even a form letter from their reps. Watching some of the changes with the apps coming thru maybe the chl program is on a upswing. But remember it was not the people applying for the chl that ignored a know problem for so long. "My two cents" take it for what is worth.
