Very nicely. It's well balanced, fits very nicely in my hand, and recoil is minimal, even with +P loads. Sight picture reset is nice and quick, and the white dots on the sights make this this an easy gun to do accurate rapid fire. I've got no complaints at all.hi-power wrote:Very nice HP, NcongruNt!

I carried a Ruger GP100 on duty for about a year after they first came out, before my department finally let us start carrying something besides wheel guns (Yes it was sometime after 1987 before Greenville PD admitted that semi-autos were okay for police officers!). I hated it at first but yanked that trigger assembly out and took it to a gunsmith for polishing and it was sweeeeet after that. The other guys gave me a hard time about toting a Ruger but I earned their respect on the firing range at every qualification. The 1911 is actually incredibly concealable. I've found I prefer carrying either a Commander or Officer most of the time, IWB and tucked (using a belly-band holster, with the gun positioned just behind the point of my hip). Unless my overshirt is too small for me, the pistol seems to disappear. Similar experience too. Early 80's & working as Chaplain to SO & had the only Ruger on the line. Smith or Colt was it. Mine was a Security 6. They called it a Preacher gun. I like it & that is what matters. It's well engineered. Not a leaf spring anywhere in it.

I carry a Hi-Power in a Galco Combat Carry OWB. The Hi-power (4.6" barrel) is about the same size as a 5" 1911, but with a double-stack mag making the grip bulkier, and consequently a little more difficult to conceal than a 1911. I wear an unbuttoned work shirt over it, but sometimes close the bottom button to prevent the wind from exposing my gun.
