Update from last night:

Called DPS this morning and the lady who answered the phone transferred me to a specialist without me even asking. The specialist told me she'd add it to her stack and have it mailed in 7-10 business days. So it looks like I'm finally going to make it out of review.

It came it came!!!!

E-submitted paperwork on 1/21, plastic in hand 3/7.

Last post for me waiting... wife told me it was in the mail today.

All mailed 1/13/2014

Plastic in mailbox 3/7/2014

53 days.

I'm officially out of the waiting room! Submitted application on January 13 and received my chl in the mail today!

Alllllriiiiight!!!!! The waiting is finally over!

Just joined but I've been watching this forum since it started
Decided to join since i finally got an update. so here it is:

CHL Class: 1/11/14
Fingerprinted: 1/17/14
CHL DOCs Mailed: 1/22/14 (certified mail date it was received)

Then I started to get impatient like most lol, I started seeing some people from January getting their plastic or at least an update.

SOOO on 2/27/14 I emailed and I also faxed my documents over to DPS.
Then come Monday 3/3/14 I had an update. Do not know if it was due to my impatience or it was actually finally reviewed but i am not going to question it lol

DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received

Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received

I got finger printed and mailed my packet on 1/29. So, I am at 38 days now pending review and print....It appears that the wait times are normalizing a bit. There was a black hole it appears from September of last year through December. Seems like in mid to late January, the extra help the DPS received is now catching things up. Let's hope they keep all hands on deck. It seems unreasonable that some folks have waited over 90 days. I will give you the final timeframe once I get my plastic in hand!

Did my walmart run today.

1/7/14: All docs uploaded & emailed through DPS website
1/18/14: Email stating all docs received and no further action needed
3/7/14: Website still says "application received, waiting on documents"

Called DPS, waited on hold for 19 minutes, told the wait is long and "it can take 90 days for documents to attach to application, and another 90 days for background check to be completed and license mailed".

What? There are people on here that filed after me and already have their license. I'm calling back on Monday and hoping to get someone who cares.

01/12 - passed my CHL class
01/16 - got fingerprinted and mailed in my CHL 100 and checklist via certified mail
01/18 - received confirmation e-mail:

We have received the necessary information for your CHL application. No further action or documents are required on your part at this time. A specialist will review and process your application. If anything further is needed we will contact you by regular mail. The online status of your application will likely update just before the process completes. This can take up to 8 weeks from when your last documents were submitted.

Because of that last part and what others have told me on a couple of other forums, I didn't even start to look at the online updates until 02/18. At first I only saw the dreaded "waiting to receive documents" status, despite the e-mail stating that they'd received all of my documents. Not to worry, I used to work for the State, so I know that the paper work sometimes gets way ahead of the data entry into the Web based systems. On March 5, the online status change to:

Fingerprints : Under review
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review

No change since the 5th and it 8 weeks is coming up.
