Not bad! I got status update on the 4th, so I'm hoping for plastic today. Spent the weekend breaking in a Galco V-Hawk around the house, really nice holster FYI.

Man, your time line after you called them is identical to mine. I'd bet your application slipped through the cracks somehow until you called them, then they started it.

I called periodically throughout the whole process. They kept stating the background check was pending. So either A) It slipped through the cracks and they were covering their asses. B) Living all over the place in the military caused a lengthy background check. C) They were testing my patience. D) DPS was holding out to ensure I got it as an early Christmas gift.

Of course, now that I have it, I can't even carry today as my only destination is the VA Hospital for an appointment which I'll be there for an eternity (Making the DPS look like a 5 minute wait)

Blech. VA is worse than the dentist, the DMV and the Post Office. Combined. I've never had to visit the Dallas VA but Phoenix was an absolute nightmare.

I'm still leaning toward CYA on your app, but who knows? Important thing is that we're legal now!

First carry today, 10 hours at work. I'm sure I'll learn where I need to make changes.
