ugh, now people that I took the class with and that mailed their applications in after mine are receiving their plastic...
I blame Obama

Mailed my packet via regular US mail on March 21. Class and fingerprints at L-1 were done a couple days before that. I checked status today and everything is green, "MANUFACTURING PENDING." Luckily I am on vacation for the next 10 days or so, otherwise I would be going crazy checking my mailbox!

So I thought I would introduce myself here with my first post scence I fall under the March Applications. I have actually been watching this forum for awhile even before I sent in my packet. Just been too lazy to register and give some input. Timeline goes as follows...I am a patient man but my patience for plastic is growing thin.

Packet mailed Priority 3/2

Status Update all green except background sometime early April
First call to DPS 4/13..waiting fingerprints to clear
Waiting...
4/25 Still no status change
2nd call to DPS 5/2..background needs technition to clear
Email to Governor 5/4
Response from governor's office 5/5...going to get things investigated

I talked to my stepdad this morning and his changed to manufacturing a couple days ago...this is going to drive me crazy.

Seriously? The Governor's office? I understand the desire as I am quite anxiously awaiting mine, but I am not sure you need to waste anyone's time outside of some poor clerk at the DPS. I don't think Rick is going to intervene and have it printed up. Sorry, not trying to be a jerk, but that might be the furthest I have seen someone take it.

(OK, after reading the other thread "Anyone still waiting?", perhaps I spoke too soon. Seems like people are having success with this method. I will wait a while longer before I ring up Rick.)

Really? Do you think that poor clerk at the DPS is going to fix the problem? In 2008, there were people waiting 120 days until enough of them complained to get the system fixed. I'm at 76 days since DPS received my materials via registed mail. My status has been background review for two months. I'll email anyone if I think it will help hurry up an extremely slow, inefficient process.

Rather than getting bent, please note the addition I made to that note (in parentheses) immediately after I read the other thread.

i did have an arrest for 'fighting in public'- class C municipal misdemeanor 6 years ago. My instructor gave me the phone number to get a hold of the people that keep criminal records, and the lady said it was 'fighting in public'..i asked her if she was sure it wasnt disorderly conduct and she said yes. the charge was fighting in public. i spent 1 night in a holding cell, saw a judge the next morning, and was released with no fine or paperwork, but i dont know if i was convicted. the lady couldnt verify the disposition either.

when i run a BG on myself on the DPS website, nothing shows up.

what is the time limit on the legislation for conducting a background check? some people are saying a decision should be made within 45 daysof receiving application, some are saying its 60, and some 180 (if you have something on your record)

it will be 60 days on 05/19...should i call them after that?
