Congrats!

I got mine on Saturday. 40 days exactly from the day I submitted my application. I ordered a cross breed iwb holster. Once I get that I'll be all set. Maybe a pair of jeans with a bigger waist.

So far...
4-13 CHL application online
4-15 Fingerprints
5-16 CHL Class and submit
5-18 confirmation email after submitting supporting documents (Class paper and DD214)
6-10 The CHL status website thing offers me options to change address and report lost/stolen license
From what I have read thats the last step but who knows. I had a couple of entries for employment in Afghanistan and Iraq that were just GPS locations so I figured a flag would have been thrown on those.

Been keeping track of this forum for 1-2 weeks waiting for CHL, thought I would post my timeline, seems like DPS was pretty quick though. I decided to get my CHL with the recent gun friendly TX congress, the anticipation was killing me spending 140$ as a grad student was a rather large chuck of my monthly stipend to spend for a non-related living expense.
05/20: Application submitted
05/20: supporting docs submitted
05/21: supporting doc email confirmation
05/22: finger prints taken
06/09: online status updated (change address options etc)
06/11: card received in mail
While I already carry in the car due to the castle doctrine, and primarily plan to stick with that for the most part, as a geology grad student who has to travel to places in the middle of no where to collect samples it is nice to add the option to legally carry as well. I was wondering if tx law shield was a worthwhile investment?
Thanks,
-TXGradStudent

Definitely a worthwhile investment, I've got [Pre-paid legal service] and for 14 bucks and some change, I've got a great attorney, with multi-state protection and a expert witness and bail bond. God forbid that I ever actually have to use it, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
