Nice to meet you Ben.

I love Shiloh. I can be found there sometimes when it's too hot or cold for the outdoor range.
The folks there have always treated me with courtesy.

What outdoor range do you use? I have been looking for a good outdoor range where I can shoot my AR-15. I have only tried Hotwells so far.

Yep, Hotwells is the one I use because it's fairly close.
If you don't mind traveling a little further you might check out American Shooting Centers.
I haven't been there in some time but here's their website to check out... http://www.amshootcenters.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can come north and check out Thunder Gun Range. They have a carbine match and IDPA matches. TTS-IDPA.net

Thanks, CompVest I looked at the TTS website looks like they have alot to offer. I might have to see about coming out and watching one of the events just to see it first hand before I decide to join in on the fun.

From personal experience, I can tell you that someone will most likely ask you where your rig is and invite you to join in the action. You will probably also find just watching incredibly boring after a while.

I'm new here. I am active duty Army stationed at Ft. Bliss. I have been stationed here for a couple of years. I am married, and we are both originally from Alabama. I got my AL CHL on my 21st birthday and maintained it for a few years before letting it lapse. The process in AL is much different from TX; in AL you give the sheriff's office $20 and pick up you permit 3 days later...but I actually enjoyed the all day TX class.

I recently attended the TX CHL class and will finish submitting my application this week. After reading all the materials I got at the class I am a little confused about how to fill out the application without a TX DL or ID card and I have posed that question in the general CHL forum. My usual carry gun is a keltec p3at, I was lucky and got one of the reliable ones...I like it for it's size and the ability to pocket carry in an appropriate pocket holster. I have also carried a P229, and stick my beretta 96 in the glove box for those long weekend trips. Thanks.

Hi I'm Alyson, I'm the soon to be wife of Gregthehand who has been on this site for quite sometime. I just finished my CHL class today. I'm in the Air Guard and work as an engineer in the Oil Field in the Marine Construction business. I graduated from Norwich University in 2004 and then from grad school in 2008. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this site. My daily carry is going to be a Sig P239, 9 mm.
