I would add..."Should people be restricted from legally carrying..."
As we all know, restrictions do not apply to those who wish to carry illegally.

Looks like they may have closed the poll. 86% said no!
Guess it wasn't going their way.

It is still up and incrementing with approximately 86% saying they approve of carry.
OK, how many have voted more than once??

Well, I am in that position. I think that you
should[/b] be able to carry without a CHL. Call it a second amendment thing.
while I agree with you, and your right to carry, what I was getting at was the the vote implies that if you approve of CHL carry, obviously legal, you also approve of illegal carry, by felons etc.

I voted, and then I wrote them a message about their slanted perceptions of CHLers.

A buddy said they had this on the news and they were taking knives from people at the gate. Anyone know if this is so? Would they take my knife and leave me with my pistol ?
Knives permitted?
OC permitted?

I only got the tail-end of the report last night...was my turn to clean the kitchen. I only found about it because my wife shrieked, "Oh my God, you've got to be kidding me"...I'm still working on her.
But yeah, the people they interviewed did sound like sheep and I wonder how many of them were truly familiar with the surronding area.
At any rate, we'll be taking the little one to his first fair sometime next week. Gotta do it during the week as the sun is going down because he still doesn't like a lot of light. The Kimber will definately be in tow.
One question though, what did the one representative mean when he was saying they'll be checking to make sure the weapon is secure? DO they actually inspect your holster? I'm 32 years old...I'm going for food, to watch the rodeo, look at the cars, and play some games. No rides for me.

I was thinking about that today. I think they're concerned with the firearm falling out on a ride.

The pro-CHL vote is down to 80%. It looks like the poll is being hit by anti's. Unfortunately, the poll allows anyone to vote multiple times. In fact, if you want to check the spread, the only way to do it is to vote again.

I wrote to Fox News about their deviously worded question:
Your poll on carrying firearms in the State Fair is either horribly
worded or designed with some devious purpose.
You leave those of us in favor of CHLs carrying in
places where carry is legal according to state law with
no option to except to vote to allow carry even without
a CHL.
While it would be illegal for someone without a CHL to
carry in the State Fair, it is perfectly legal for CHL
holders, but the ambiguous wording give the impression
that those of us in favor of CHL carry favor non-CHL
carry also.
Their reply was:
Thanks for your input! There was a mistake with the
wording of the poll, but it's since been fixed. I
assure you there was no devious purpose, it was a
simple mistake.
And I then replied that their fix was worse than the original:
Actually, this "fixed" wording is what I, and many
others, consider devious.
Should people be restricted from carrying guns at the State Fair, even
with a concealed handgun license?
Once again, the wording leaves no choice between voting to deny CHL
holders the right to carry in a place where it is
lawful for them to carry, by answering yes, or voting
to allow even non-CHL holders to carry, by voting no.
If that is not devious wording, please explain how
you feel that it is not.
Couldn't you have worded
it in a way that did not imply disenfranchisement of a
significant segment of Texas' population? It has been
legal for CHLs to carry in the State Fair since 2003,
but all of a sudden Fox 4 makes a big deal of it now?
That makes the wording, both before and after the
supposed fix, even more suspect.
Maybe it's time for channel 11 to investigate you.
Their reply:
Thank you for your input.
The poll is meant merely to gauge opinions of our
viewers, a number of whom were not aware of the current
law.
And my latest reply:
If your poll was worded honestly, it would do a better job.

thanks jimlongley. someone finally puts their finger on it.
the question is bogus and the wording deceitful. there are two questions implied in the poll.
1) should people be prohibited from carrying firearms at the fair (implied as someone without a CHL).
and
2) should people with CHLs be prohibited from carrying firearms at the fair
Well #1 is clearly illegal. To answer NO to the survey implies you are OK with ANYONE carrying a weapon (e.g., felons, numbskulls, kids, you name it) --NOt just a person with a CHL.
I still voted NO despite the biased and deceitful question.

this is the email I just sent to Fox News.
Your poll question regarding carrying weapons at the State Fair is bogus.
There are two questions implied in the poll.
1) should people be prohibited from carrying firearms at the fair (implied as someone without a CHL).
and
2) should people with a CHL be prohibited from carrying firearms at the fair
Well #1 is clearly illegal. Your average Joe (or Joanna) cannot legally carry a firearm outside his or her residence. So, to answer NO to the survey implies one is OK with ANYONE carrying a weapon (e.g., felons, numbskulls, kids, you name it) --NOT just a person with a CHL.
a properly worded question might read
"should a person with a TX Concealed Handgun License be prohibited from carrying a weapon at the State Fair"
