While a military AK-47 is a true select-fire rifle, many of the semi-auto clones sold today are marketed and sold under the name "AK-47". It's not inaccurate to call them that, just as it's not inaccurate to call the modern semi-auto M1928's "Thompsons".

Molon_Labe, no disrespect, but I had to chuckle... a scope on an AK is like rims and a tail fin on a Yugo.

I'm not an AK fan, but I would like a Yugo SKS.

I have a Romanian SAR-1. Some people like them and some don't. They're cheap, light, simple, easy to clean, and ammo is plentiful. I also have a quick release scope for it from http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/

I'll probably always have one, no reason not too.

I am not aware of any sold under the name "AK-47", One of the most common sold today is the WASR-10, others go by names such as SLR* etc.

Who sells them as "AK-47"? I would love to get one.

Put me down for "No, but looking"

I kinda like those Saiga variants.

What are the negatives on those? Single-stack only?

Oh yah...totally lipstick on a pig...but I can keep all 30 rounds in 12" at 100 yards...It gives me a bit more oomph when I raz those guys with tricked out AR's and 25lbs of gizmos are strapped to it.

Mine ain't a AK, its a WASR-10

I call it my "Carbine Dragunov" hehehehe
