While I like the SA/DA for personal carry, a 1911 is on my want list. It makes a fine range gun they are fun to shoot. As range gun the extra safety/hammer down stuff would be unnecessary.

My SR1911 Commander has over a 1000 rounds thru it via action pistol matches and range time with this installed. Works perfectly. An excellent option if you carry a 1911 or BHP, in my opinion.
Also available for Series 80. I do not work for nor affiliated with this company, they just make good products in my opinion.

But not available for the 1911-A1?
Yes, available for 1911-A1. Have installed on two of my 1911s, one of which is a SA 1911-A1, the other is a Commander.

I find far more people with Glocks afraid to carry chambered than I do 1911's. I don't care what gun it is, they only fire for me when I pull the trigger. Go figure.

I always carried my 1911 cocked and locked when I carried one. I don’t worry about my Glocks either. But one thing that I really appreciated about my old USP Compact was the decocker and the DA/SA capability.

We each must decide for ourselves which risks we are willing to take and which benefits matter most to us. I don't care how others carry. I carry a striker fired pistol with a round in the chamber. I train my family to do the same. Y'all do you.

Since joe817 mentioned a "chambered round" thread, here is a link to Active Self Protection narrated videos on the subject:
