i have a single action as well not a nice one like you but none the less
i just said that double action was available for those who feel single action is unsafe

Bersa 380 has good safety options, is inexpensive, and a good small carry gun.

No, i never said i wanted a 380. I have a couple of 380s already. The Kel-Tec P3AT and the Bersa 380. I prefer the Bersa because it it much more reliable but the Kel-tec can't be beat for concealability. I contemplated picking up the Bersa CC version but I really want a larger caliber if I'm gonna carry that size of gun.

I think I've made up my mind on the XD40SC. I really like the safety features and loaded chamber indicators on it. Plus everyone seems to have positive things to say about the XDs.

I have a Bersa 380 and a Bersa 9mmcc and they are almost the exact same size other than the 9 being a double stack 13 rd and is a little wider accross the grip.

If you don't believe the toughness of the 1911..this thread should change your mind about it!

Guy dropped his (owned 20 minutes) Springfield 1911 on the freeway out of his backpack totally destroying the snot out of it..however it never dropped the hammer!

I beg to differ. ANY weapon can go off if dropped, abused, or otherwise mishandled. The safety measures, such as thumb safety, grip safety, decocker, and firing pin block reduce the likelihood to almost zero in modern weapons. It's best to behave as if it's always possible. As for larger calibers, Bersa makes fine pistols in 9 mm, .40 cal., and .45 ACP as well as the .380. All reliable, accurate, and inexpensive.

I have the Thunder .380 Concealed Carry, which is lightweight, very easily concealed, has good magazine capacity (8+1), and costs less than $300. My objection to the real 'mouse guns' like the Kel-Tec and LCP is that I can get only two fingers around the handgrip - my pinky just sorta hangs there, or folds around the bottom of the grip. With a really lightweight gun I'd want more security.

A .380 can be made more effective with good ammo. Cor-Bon DPX, Federal Hydra-Shock, and Remington Golden Sabers (my own personal favorite) are all excellent. Find one that feeds reliably in your pistol.

Do you know of any modern firearms (in good repair) firing simply from being dropped?

Its a series 80 firearm w/o the firing pin block, aka a neutered series 80

A series 80 WILL NOT fire if dropped.
