Just thought I'd bring this back up. There was a Taco Cabana thread on http://www.thefiringline.com. A few months ago, I visited one local Taco Cabana, and there was nothing on or near the entrance. On a board near the menu, where they post their food licenses and such, there was a non-30.06-compliant "no guns" sign. I wrote to Taco Cabana via their contact info on their website telling them about it, but not specifying which location. I wanted them to have to check them ALL and figure out which ones are posted incorrectly. I got a reply, and I wrote back, including my phone number. I actually got a call from a Taco Cabana representative, and, while being very polite, I disagreed with their policy, and told them that their signage is useless. She thanked me, and offered a gift card from them. I told her that while I wouldn't go in a Taco Cabana that's properly posted, I might run through the drive-thru. I got the gift card ($25), and have since visited two other Taco Cabanas, which were also improperly posted. I went in, ordered my lunch on their dime, and ate - all while carrying. ;-)

A not-so-humorous thing happened a month or so ago: A guy was shot to death while waiting in line at a Taco Cabana somewhere around Dallas I believe. I copied the story, and sent it to the Taco Cabana rep, and said I guess their drive-thrus aren't a safe place to be, either.

Hi Brandon and welcome to the forum.

I just go with the idea that they know when they post a no gun's sign that it will not stop a CHL holder, so I see it as an invitation for me and mine to come on in with our concealed handguns and I am glad they don't post 30.06.

PS
If they don't know let's not tell them ;-)

FYI - on the Firing Line forum, someone had already taken it to the regional head of security for Taco Cabana, or whoever is in charge of such things. They were already well aware of it, all the way to the top. I figure I'll beat 'em into either dropping their signs, or complying with the law and posting the correct signs in the correct places. Once they do that, I'm no longer a customer. I can always get my food elsewhere.

My personal opinion is that Someone on the fireing line forum is not very bright.

I can't argue with that, but since that cat was already out of the bag, I thought I'd add my $.02 before declaring them a place that I no longer do business with.

By the way, there were 3 people shot following a fight in a Taco Cabana parking lot tonight, as reported on the local Fox news station. :???: Maybe I'll just make my own tacos at home.

I don't know if something similar happened near Dallas, but at the beginning of this month, a man was shot to death in an apparent attempted carjacking in the parking lot of the Conroe Taco Cabana. Just about 27 hours after my family and I left another business in that strip center. Dang, I wish my CHL would get here soon!

Dang, guess I should be glad I don't care much for Taco Cabana food. Good place to get shot.

I'm new here, but I agree with El Gato. No need to tell them. I think the
"Unlicensed posession" signs are a perfect compromise. Makes the establishment look like they care, but does not legally keep the CHL holders out.

BTW- they only care about customer safety to the extent it affects their bottom line.

Telling them would like punching yourself in the face. DON'T DO THAT!

Time for a new Cabana.....

I've seen a few around SA that are inside behind the counter on the wall where the menu is. They are printed on a 8.5 X 11 paper. Wrong place, wrong size. Works for me.

Unlicensed possession signs are required by TABC for any place that sells alcohol.

I realize this is an old thread, but recently went to Taco Cabana in Spring. I had gone to a friend's house with my roommate to visit and have a couple drinks. Given the plan, I left my guns at home, and did not carry.

While on the way home (about 12:30am) we stopped at the Taco Cabana in question. It is now properly posted with 30.06 in the front window, rather than the old small sign next to the menu.

It struck me as odd that a company so set against guns would hire a commissioned security officer (non-LEO) to watch the place. I didn't notice what particular weapon he was carrying, but it was rather large.

The odd behavior of Utopianistic Liberal Gun Haters.
