The goal of the antis is the elimination of every firearm from existence.

They want us to be like the UK.

No firearms. None Nada.

It is about control.

They will do anything and everything. There is nothing off the table.

Why is this so difficult to understand????

We can not compromise. This is not a consensus building exercise at work. This is life, and this is our freedom. Life is hard, freedom is not free.

Well said Anygun! :cheers2:

Anyone who doesn't believe this wholeheartedly needs to watch the entire U.N. Gun Debate

I can't find anything in the U.S. Constitution that allows the Federal Government to ban or even regulate the private face to face sale of anything. Handguns. Machineguns. Bibles. Marijuana. Birth control pills. Automobiles. Nothing!

And I can't find anything in the U.S. Constitution that allows the Federal Government to be in the banking business, the education business, the healthcare business, the marriage business, the charity business... you get the picture.

Wow. While I've been a moderate on this issue, I joined the NRA last night and will join you in fighting any restrictions. If we give these people an inch, they will take a mile. It's clear that the goal is to ban all guns using a UN treaty to do so.

I don't think we can enter into a treaty that conflicts with our US Constitution, but it would clearly start us down that path.

What is a gun show?

Here in Houston, I think of George R Brown Convention center, Pasadena Convention center, and the Astro Dome complex.

In the past, when Washington DC was describing "Gun Shows". Their description was overly broad. It included all of the venues that we think of PLUS every gun range I've ever seen.

There were also record keeping requirements for the "gun show" organizer. They would need the name and address of all attendees.

It wasn't just a matter of shutting down the 'loophole'. They wanted to shut down guns shows.

Oh, and yes, they wanted to outlaw private transfers between individuals.

Are you anti-gun? Well, do you believe there should be "common sense" gun laws? :totap: I've said it before, I'll say it again - A law that makes no sense to a gun owner is not a law that can be called common sense.

Here's another thread on the subject: http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=214727" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As said above, banning FTF sales while on location at a gun show is a highly sought after thing by the antis. Its just another way for them to control guns. By requiring a 4473 for any and every sale, they keep track of who has what firearm. Essentially, they keep a registry. If you want to know how a gun registry goes bad, take a look at Canada and "C-68"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmrqT9SIkQw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I also don't believe in proliferating this "L" word. Its an anti catch phrase, much like "assault rifle". They are anti born terms used to create a descriptively negative connotation to an inanimate object.

Another though, if the federal government tried to ban FTF sales, don't they start encroaching on state's rights? :headscratch

:?:

I have no idea if or when they actually obeyed the laws by the power we as citizens give them. But it seems like we should start holding them accountable :cup:

My favorite is when California politicians talk about closing the "gun show loop". The problem is they already require that all gun transfers be done through a FFL with a 10 day waiting period. There is no "gun show loop" in California but since it makes a great sound bite, they still talk about.

I often wonder how many transfers are illegally done (i.e. no FFL) in California.

They will outlaw private sales that are not transferred through an FFL.

I can see the executive order now.

I can also see undercover ATF agents making buys and sales to wayward felons...I mean citizens....I mean subjects who thought that background checks were fine.

Forgive me for being so jaded but I really, really, really do not trust Maobama. Nothing the thug from CHicago could ever do would surprise me.

JK. Welcome to the NRA. Remember that without the second ammendment, the rest of our rights will come down like dominoes. Ask any Jewish person who managed to survive the Nazi regime. Hitler ran his campaign on a platform of "change" too. Look what they got.

You would be shocked to know the number of gun owners that are not NRA members. We need to gently encourage them to join.

Thanks, to all here that have recently joined the NRA or TSRA. :tiphat:

I'm embarrassed to admit that I am/was one of them. I just mailed in my app to the NRA, so that will soon change.

I am one of them not a member of the NRA. I have my reasons :totap: Meanwhile I'm involved in other ways.
