My bud bought a V10 ported 9mm XD (OD Green on closeout at Carter's for $399). I'd never much looked at 'em, but wanted to give it a whirl. I liked the grip angle (as opposed to my Glock 19), and I shot it well. A ported 9mm shoots about like a .22lr, if you ask me. If my Glock 19 wasn't a gift from a best friend, I'd trade it for one. I don't particluarly like the looks of either gun, but I guess that doesn't matter either way. It shoots very well!

I can't say enough abt the XD! To date, I've shot, I think, just about every caliber and every length barrel. I love my Service (4") and prefer
that pistol over others for competitions. Every XD that I've put in my hand is SUPER accurate, comfortable, has a nice balance and 'feel' to it, etc.. If I had the money, I'd get one of EVERY variation!
My hubby (the almost 70-year old that was "hesitant")...well, after he shot MY XD to qualify for his CHL...he decided to get a little subcompact for personal carry! I'm STILL a little stunned about the whole thing!
For some reason he'd fallen in love with the Glock (had never shot one) but when he was able to hold the two side-by-side....the Glock fell by the wayside!
So, if this isn't enough to convince you to get an XD...your head is harder than my hubby's! (Trust me! Now THAT'S hard!!)

Well, my experience with them so far is that they're too darn hard to get
All you gunhogs out there keep buying them up, and the local dealers here can't get me one in a timeframe that I'm willing to lay down the cash for. (Blowing through a value pack of WWB does wonders to stave off buyer's remorse, but it has to be applied within an hour or two of the money leaving my account)
Thanks to those of you who couldn't even leave me one simple 4" XD45 in stock at one of their suppliers, I had to settle for a Taurus PT99 and a Mossberg 835 to blow my gun budget on for this month.
You should be ashamed.

I bought an XD-9 Service model and have shot 3500+ rounds through it in under two months. I have an XD-45 Service coming in the mail. I'm sure I'll get a subcompact later, maybe the .40 cal version. I can't compare them to other handguns since the XD-9 is the first one I've owned but I have shot many rental handguns and the XD was the easiest to shoot. So, from the newbie standpoint, it's great!

When did you get it?
And FWIW, I have not had the chance to shoot the S&W M&P, but I have handled one and felt the trigger. The ergonomics are great, but the trigger is terrible. It feels like the 30 pound Sigma Trigger.
I LOVE the Springfield XD. If I did not just buy a Sig P220 I would have an XD already.

Just sitting here thinking, Gwenn will argue that point

, that I would like to know what Stephen Camp has to say about the XD9, his view's are always very thorough and detailed.
So far the only problem I have found is that I think some folks will find it a little hard to physically put it at slide lock.

My feeling as well, felt good in my hand but the trigger felt like my friends Sigma. The Glocks and XD's are my favorites in Plastic.
