On ammo prices, I think once we are finished messing around in The Sandbox, ammo will come down in price. The manufacturers will not want to ramp down production so the mil surplus will come back.
.41 per round for a .223 FMJ is crazy. Lake City .223 used to be .11 per round. Now the steele case is .35+
I was at Wally World talking to a guy that was talking about a 500% tax on ammo comming down the road, I said .223 was already up 400%.

Here in the pan handle you can find them at good prices but you have to shop around. The bigger gun shops are going overboard. I mean one place called Tactical Arms in Lubbock was selling Rock River for 1200.00 which is a great price, i think. The other place "Sharp Shooters" had more of a selection but didn't have one under 2k. I asked why and they said people are paying it so they are going to sell it for that price. :( Sad but true I guess.
Anyway, I would suggest you do as others stated and shop around. :)
Good Luck!

My CMMG order is a month old already. I don't expect my rifle any time soon, but I'm glad I went that route (got what I wanted) instead of settling for what someone might have on the rack that is convenient.

Better to get exactly what you want.

My .02cents: If you want an EBR/military clone you should obtain it ASAP.
Don't forget mags, spare parts, and ammo.
Call me crazy but the anti EBR rumblings are subtle but real.
If something happens, you're good to go.
If nothing happens, you're good to go.

I ordered an upper from them on Dec 21st and just got notice today (March 27) that the order was processed and is now in production. Now just have to wait another 6-8 weeks... Plenty of time to try to find some .223

Judging from todays trip to GRB the prices are dropping fast. DPMS Ar for $947 new, RRA and such for ~$1100. Lowers about $100 less than 2 months ago. One guy had M4 style uppers for $420 brand new and had about dozen on the table. You could build your own for ~$840 today. Still high on ammo but was plenty available.

That guy had uppers with no freeking bolts in em at the GRB!
I went everywhere looking for a daggum upper...NOPE...even the DPMS for 695 would have been nice..but NONE had bolts..NONE!!
So I got my buddy to order me a Flattop upper 16" RRA Mid-Length w/ Chrome bore for $495 total (taxes and shipping) just waiting for it to come in is gonna be unbearable!!

Yeah, I cant figure out why uppers are sold without BCG and handles. They are all the same. Only thing might be to get more money.

We have some guns in stock now. My new favorite commercially-produced AR is the Daniel Defense M4 carbine. Its one of the nicest out of the box guns I've seen in a while.
