You're a big guy. . . you can practice to handle the recoil of any of these. I'd recommend getting the best combination of size (as compact as possible), weight, and capacity that you can find. Since you have designs on concealed carry and aren't looking to buy multiple firearms, get the one you're most likely to actually carry. The gun you left at home is worthless when you need it!

I have a number of pistols in my safe. All the majored names and all shoot great. I carry an XD. I shoot the XD in completion. BUT if I could only have one pistol it would be a Glock. You will always be able to get parts. For the same reason if I could only have one shotgun it would be a Remington.

Walther P99; narrow, accurate, reliable, great trigger on the DA/SA version (for the QA replace the striker spring with a 5.5lb glock striker spring from Wolff). I used to carry a 229 in 40, tried carrying my P99 and never went back to the Sig. CDNN sell used factory mags for $20.

I have to recomend my favorite carry pistol, Smith & Wesson SW99 Compact in .40 cal. Has a SA/DA trigger, very managble recoil, decently concealable, adjustable sights and polymer framed(weight issue). Got mine in almost perfect condition used with 3 - 8 round mags and all the factory paperwork/case for $350.

This pistol is basicaly a Walther P99, as the frame has Walther markings.

For deep concealment/summer clothing my new little Sig Sauer P238 .380 is practicaly invisible.

Everyone is going to recomend something different, like mentioned before go shoot as many different weapons as possible before purchasing.

Are ya confused yet haha. I also bought a XD45 compact 4 inch and loved it so much that I went and also bought a sub compact 40 cal in 3 inch and carry both reg. As has been said all good guns. I can add that one thing about the xds I love is well more then one lifetime warr, very light and mine have NEVER malfunctioned either one very reliable and you def want that with a CHL carry gun. Won't speak of other models because I don't own them. Put an XD in your hand. Good luck!
