I think that both brands are the same price at Midway actually (as far as the USPc goes), and so it is just personal preference.

Your cheapest route will probably be to send it back to Springfield and have them do it. As I recall, they are pretty reasonable.
They charged me $35.00 to put the sights on my USPc, but maybe they are easier to install than on an XD.
Yes Sir, they are a major pain, that's why a lot of gun shops won't even install them.

Don't go to bass pro. Had them install ghostring tritium sights on my XD45C and the didn't use a sight pusher, used the "Old" school dowel and hammer. The dowel / hammerslipped and marked the slide forever. They didn't charge me at all but they need a sight pusher or need to get rid of the old school gunsmiths...

Sounds like Gun Masters in Plano. They use the same method, except they incorporate a grinder to get the job done. :coolgleamA:

SPS at the S.E. corner of Josey and Beltline will do it. I'm having TFOs put on my my XD sub-compact 9 mm at SPS this week. I've never had any work done there; so I can't provide a reference (yet). I did confirm that they use a press (of some kind).

Larry says he's been in business for 35 year and at that location for 21. I'm surprised no one has responded to my query above.
Has anyone had SPS in Carrolton install sights on an XD?
I've just been doing business with him for a few weeks (ammo, leather, snap caps, etc.)

He has removed and installed sights on Springfields before and knows how tight they are.

I feel (somewhat) comfortable.

Of course being able to pick up the sights at night is important, but thus far I have found myself shooting a lot more during the day "rlol"
Anyhow we are all different, so this is just a fyi.
I guess experiences vary. The Trijicons I bought were very bright at night, and they seem fine to me for daytime use as well. I'm just relieved to have a set of sights that works.

Elk Castle installed the XS Big Dots on my XD about three years ago. Cost about $25.00 and took less than thirty minutes. You might also check with On Target south of Benbrook. They are installing another set of Big Dots on a 1911 for me right now for a very reasonable price. They would probably do an XD also.
