Thanks again USA1!
I don't mean this to sound insulting or anything, but you and Joe must have been on the cheer squad in high school! You two are without fail, always encouraging folks here! It makes us realize we're not alone. My hat's off to the two of you....

The law change this past Sept stating that certain convictions set aside or dismissed did open up eligibility for a lot of folks, myself included. My youthful indiscretion occured in Texas so the language matched up clearly. I'm still waiting for my card so I don't really feel I'm out of the woods yet.
I applied and was denied in 1996 or so for the same thing that is not a road block now. The CHL snag upset a lot of folks when they realized their pleas and deferred adjudication were the same thing as an old fashioned conviction in the CHL belief system.

Thanks rdhetrick. Just trying to save some people some of the aggravation I faced when I went through the process, and pass on to the newer people what the more experience members of the forum passed on to me. The issue was in doubt for me too(it's what I felt), as my "record" wasn't by any means spotless.

Congrats again!
Nice to see persistence helped and they were willing to correct their stance instead of trying to prove you wrong, or they were "right"

Very similar thing happened with my application where I was "taken in for questioning" twice, but listed them as arrests, since one would have been a felony at that time in the 1970s except the charges were completely dropped or not filed after having "booked/fingerprinted" me etc but then they called my parents to come pick me up, since I was a mere back seat passenger in a car which driven by a criminal (freind of an ex-girlfreind's whom I didn't know, but she got us a ride home from him that time.) I listed the incidents on my application, and was required to get a certified "letter of NO records" letter from the District Clerk .... who then listed no records for those years, but listed another person with the same first and last name as mine on another charge, which was not me, but the Clerk informed the DPS that they'd need to send my fingerprints to the sherrif dept in that county to verify it wasn't me since they had no middle name on that court case ..... eventually, I got my plastic without a hearing too.
Funny thing though, the first denial letter I got said some arrest in a state I had never been to, and that's when I called the DPS and they looked in my file and said that's their mistake, they don;t have anything about be in that State, disregard that deinal letter, then, the next day, I got another denial letter due to the "non-arrests" I listed as "possible arrests, with explanations" on my application.
