I thought the same thing. It is actually about half the thickness of my Beltman and twice as stiff. Stiff to the point of being downright uncomfortable. I tried to wear the thing a few times and it doesn't get better. It is cheap low grade leather and the color is nothing short of ugly. It is definitely a 7.99 belt.
