I have had my G23 since CHL first hit the streets. 4000+ rounds and never a FTF, FTE or a dropped slide. I have dropped it, waded through water with it and have always hit what I was aiming at.
I still love a nice 1911 and wouldn't mind a new one for BBQ carry, but there is no more reliable, utilitarian weapon than the Glock. That said, I'm not particularly sensitive about it but I am hard pressed to consider anything else for everyday carry.

I like my Glocks and they apparently like me as none has ever attacked me (well, not without provocation).
That said, I do believe that one should be required to be at least as smart as one's weapon before considering carrying said weapon with regularity. A fair barometer of that level of intelligence might be one's history of self-inflicted wounds.

Probably most of the LEOs. The few people who I know who shot themselves did it with S/A revolvers trying to do "quick draws" like the cowboys on TV and in the Western movies.
I never had a ND with my Model 19 from 1978 until some fool
stole it in 1996. I wish I still had it.
I was quite accurate with it. One of the last times I wrung it out at the range I shot a 50 round 100/26X on a 2/3 scale silhouette. All standing unsupported and all double action. I knew the trigger on that pistol.
