The L1 employees may not be the most informed when it comes to the CHL application process, but he may correct depending on how you are applying. If you apply online, you can get fingerprinted as soon as you submit your application, even if it's before your class. If you do the paper application, then you'll have to wait until after your class when you send in your completed application packet. Basically, you can't get fingerprinted until DPS has your application entered into their computer system. That happens immediately when you apply online.

The L1 employees should not even care. Their job is to take the prints and submit them. Nothing more. You walk in with the paperwork, and their system shows you have paid, they just need to proceed.

Talked to DPS today, they said that they should have mine soon, they had to look at some issues I had with hot checks as a young adult. Hubby just sent his off this morning, finally got his DD-214 in. So hopefully we will both have them very soon!

Got my plastic yesterday. Will be buying a holster today. Can't wait to be able to carry.

Spend some money on a good holster! Good gun, holster, and belt...the trinity for gun carry. If you have to, get a decent interim holster and order another that will become your full-time carry. (Like a CrossBreed).

Got a Blackhawk IWB yesterday. Wasn't too bad. Wore it around for most of the day. Will probably get the Crossbreed Supertuck eventually.

UPDATE: Still waiting but when I was talking to my friend at State Rep's office today, they asked how it was going on the wait. When I told her that it had been sitting at fingerprints under review for over 30 days, she called them. They told her it has been complete and should be sent to printing this afternoon and status should be updated by morning.
Hubby got a letter today from DPS, needing clarification on a misdemeanor charge from 1985. Faxed it in, verified that they received it, very nice person that answered the phone said that it was all he needed and his should be sent to print in the next day or two as well. Maybe we will both have plastic soon!!!
