So far in doing online search (since couldn't find it in owners manual) is online gun supply store having springs for sale saying Sig suggests 1,500 for recoil spring and 5,000 for firing pin spring. Am calling armorer tomorrow about doing an action job on my P226 anyway.

I couldn't find a recommended interval listed in either of the two versions of the manual I have, either.

Now this whole discussion has me wondering...

Thats why I'm saying a lot of this is very subjective... when even Glock says 2,500 rounds and I doubt many replace it then. What i am finding is that you want to replace a recoil spring regularly or you have "slide jump" which can damage your rails in time.

Is there a typical overall length (OAL) measurement that might indicate the spring needs to be replaced? If the (flat) coil spring is approximately 3 5/8" when new (I took a picture of mine against a ruler when it was new), is it time to replace when it's down to any certain reduced length? Or would this be a reliable enough indication of replacement time?

Here's the official word from Sig (Josh) - I just got off the phone with him. The recoil spring should be replaced after 3,000-3,500 rounds. Note to self: don't worry about the recoil spring for another year.

Funny, I just got off the phone with him and got same response... I bet he is wondering what's going on!
