I have a nibble on my TexasGunTrader which I'm answering right now. He wants to buy, but he won't be able to drive up from Houston for a couple of weeks before he can. If you're serious about buying it, get ahold of me soon.

How easy is it to catch the brass for reloading, and does it dent the brass like some other semi-autos?

Well, I don' know about "other semi-autos," because my ARs don't dent their brass at all.......but yes, this M1A does dent the brass, about a 1/4" or so behind the shoulder on most but not all cases. However, the dents are not huge, and a resizing die takes them right out. I've seen brass from a Sig 556 and it is always badly dented. The M1A's brass is not that bad.
As far as catching the brass.... I've never seen a brass catcher designed to fit an M1A. I suspect that the reciprocating motion of the operating rod would make that impossible. Think of a Garand rifle.....the design of the action on the M1A is nearly identical except for being a short action instead of a long action like the Garand's. This rifle tends to throw most of its brass forward and to the right of the muzzle, and it lands in a roughly 3 ft X 4 ft patch of grass. (There's no telling what will happen if it lands on concrete.) A few pieces will occasionally eject straight out to the right. I suppose that you could put up some kind of a net in a frame to try and catch the ejected brass, but that seems like a lot of trouble to me. I am usually able to recover all of my fired brass.

We hunted from before sunup to sunset, and never saw a single pig. We saw LOTS of fresh pig sign, but no piggies. In one case, I saw pig tracks on top of my own tracks which I had laid down just an hour before. Sneaky devils.
However, we saw a
lot of these guys. I submit this photo to remind you prospective buyers that this rifle is not "just" a battle rifle:
