KA-Bar TDI in front pocket....not only for SD, but it's a great knife for just about anything....very ergonomic grip...

The Best are your sharpened bayonets. However, it is illegal to carry around.

I don't know much about carrying a fixed blade but I am interested in carrying a gerber LMF 2 for EDC.
It is single edge.
It is a fixed blade sheath knife.
It is not slim/skinny enough or balanced in a way that it could be called a "throwing" knife.
The blade length is about 4.8 inches.
Does anybody know if it legal to EDC this knife in Texas?

I'm not a lawyer, but from my reading of the laws here Yes, that is legal.

Thanks for answering. I thought so to but it is nice to hear from someone who agrees. I wrote an email asking the same question to the district attorney in my county. I also wrote one to Gerber tool corporate. I will be sure to post the responses I get.

The DA will probably need to look it up. Gerber won't care. But many of us carry knives every day & have taken the time to learn the laws to protect ourselves.
The State of Texas doesn't care if a knife is a folder or fixed blade.
It may only be sharpened on 1 side.
It may only be up to 5.5 inches in length. This part is a bit tricky depending on where it gets measured.
It isn't a throwing knife (although you can throw any knife)
Is it a Bowie knife? There isn't a legal definition of a Bowie knife in our laws, so this one can be tricky as well.
