Does this look "normal"? From reading on here, I believe it is.
So, the wait from mail to application received, was 5 weeks.

So I received a reply today to the email request I sent via the website on April 9th (not realizing at the time that it takes 35+ days from delivery for status to update). It didn't say anything, form email that basically listed wait times for several scenarios then said that if you are over those times, continue waiting.
I think this whole process is a training and testing tool - if you are going to be armed while out and about it is better to be a generally patient person. Good thinking DPS.

Hi Guys,
New to the forum here, Mailed my CHL forms and everything in middle of April between 4/20 and 4/24/13. All i got to do is now play the waiting game, and no updates on the website about my form or anything form them.

First update,,
4/16 dps recieved docs
5/15 background check under review..
Getting closer i know i shouldnt but i torture myself by checking dps site about 10 times a day.

DPS system updates 1 time per day at 6am.

Thanks...im so o.c.d. Thinking now ive got my first update i can calm it down. Been pretty happy so far with my wait time no complaints i know these guys are swamped.

3/24/2013- completed online app
3/25/2013- mailed all required paper work
3/26/2013- fingerprints sent
5/07/2013- first update "received"
5/17/2013- Today BG Complete manufacturing pending!

Woohoo! Status finally updated. Not sure when it was updated though. But as of today, here's my timeline:
03/23 - Completed online application and paid the fee
04/03 - Packet of documents sent to TXDPS via USPS along with all required information
Just saw this today (05/17/2013), but had not checked for over two weeks:
License Status: Application packet has been received from the applicant, the application is in progress.
Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : Received
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review
Now back to more waiting!
April Application

I checked DPS at 6:30am this morning and I was still "waiting". I just logged on again (because I had to have a reason to come in the house and have a mid-morning cookie snack) and my application is now being worked. I'm at Day 38 from the day DPS received my documents in the mail (April 11th) to today. I started counting with April 11th because that was the first possible day the application/documents could have been worked.

4-13 CHL class

My timeline looks identical to yours....took the class on April 13, Fingerprints on April 18 as well as mailed off my packet (didn't submit online) and today 5-19-13 is the first day I've gotten any kind of update on the site
