I think the Colonel at DPS has been blowin' smoke up our collective behinds... My app was received three weeks ago, and the status still hasn't changed. What a crock...
Advice - don't bother applying online. It doesn't help with the processing speed. Don't bother paying online. That just means they get their money faster with no tangible change in status. I just want to see movement - I don't think that's too much to expect.

Woo Hoo, I checked my CHL status this evening and it said "APPLICATION COMPLETED - LICENSE ISSUED OR CERTIFICATE ACTIVE"!!!! I should be doing the Wally Walk and have plastic in hand by the weekend!
DPS seems to be catching up a bit on the new ones at least. Mine was 51 days so far; 3 weeks after my check was cashed until I received my PIN and 3 weeks from "Processing Application" to "APPLICATION COMPLETED - LICENSE ISSUED OR CERTIFICATE ACTIVE"!
Can't wait! Don't have a Hawaiian shirt though!

Following up on yesterday's post... I received my renewed license today.
Original package sent to Austin 8/4/09 via Certified Mail. 75 days, start to finish. 56 "business days", and there was Labor Day and Columbus day in there as well, so that makes 54 business days.

I see in your signature block that they have had your packet over 60 days...was wondering if you have inquired as to the reason for the delay?
