I note that they very carefully did not say that Herzog never said this. They started by saying they could not imagine him saying this and then segued to all the fake accounts named after him. They pointed out that he is not on any social media, by his own statement.

But the meme did not say where or when he said it, nor did it claim he posted it on social media. So we have NO proof that he did not say it and only a claim that a Politifact editor could not imagine him saying it.

I do not have an opinion on whether Herzog said it, said something like it, or said nothing anywhere near the claim, but it is for a simpler reason. I have never heard of him and had to look him up to see who he was.

But I will point out that in this article, Politifact admits to being a partner of Facebook, which would make anything they say doubtful in my eyes anyway. Of course, I knew that part before they admitted it.
