Hello, all.

I've recently arrived in Houston from Calgary, Alberta (Canada). Not surprisingly, I work in the oil & energy sector.

I've taken the DPS required CHL course, made my application, and scheduled my fingerprinting session (two days from now, actually) - so I am obviously not carrying any firearms yet - but I have an H&K USP compact and a S&W M&P Shield.

I'm a relatively new pistol shooter, and am brand-new to carrying for personal defense, but I've been around firearms (mostly long guns) for most of my life, including six years in the Canadian military (infantry).

Welcome w squared. We look forward to your contribution to the forum. I visited Calgary once, during the Stampede.

Age: 49
Gender: Male
Profession: Director -- Broadband Satellite System Integration
Marital status: Married, empty-nesters
Years CHL: 0, preparing
EDC: None at the moment

Been shooting since I received my first BB gun at the age of nine...mostly shot guns and long guns for long distances. Did quite a bit of target shooting with pistols during the off-season in Montana. Many years later after moving to Texas, hunting clay pigeons and recently purchased my first 9mil. Now working to reach the proficiency level I want to reach with the 9mil, before taking the next step and attending a CHL class here in the San Antonio area.

Love the forum and since I've been lurking for a couple of weeks; learning lots. Thanx guys.

Hey everyone, the wife and I are now CHL holders as of October 2012. Have been reading this forum for several months now and decided it was time to say Hey. I am 48 and the wife is a little older (thats as much as I am allowed to say...lol) we have 2 boys and a new grandson. We enjoy shooting, go to the range at least twice a month. My carry is a Ruger LC9 or SCCY CPX-2 and the wife carries a KAHR CW45. We are always reading and learning, trying to stay up on any and all CHL changes. Of course keeping a keen eye on Washington right now as well. Well enough for now. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
