Don't recall the exact dates but sent in the fully completed application around the 2nd of Feb. Money came out of my account Feb 14. Called approximately March 10th because I had not even received my pin yet. Got letter with Pin three days later. Checked Web site and saw Application Processing. Waited until May 13 - 60 days since they said I was entered into the system to call and see what the hang up is. Told background checks from Harris and Galveston counties have not come back yet. Same day called Larry Taylor's office (Texas House of Representatives) and spoke with one of his aids. She immediately called DPS. They told her same story - no background checks. She then called each county and asked why so long. She didn't have my application # so they said they couldn't look it up. She called me back and I gave her my application # this morning and she is going to call each county and ask why it has not been sent back. I will post if this makes any progress in the completion of the application. If so the new attack to solve this problem is to jump on DPS then get your rep to jump on the counties as this appears to be one of the biggest hold up in the process.

Harris County - Day 82 - still processing.

Being told the hold up is the background checks yet not a single person willing or capable of answering whats being done to correct the problem. DPS and our elected officials can tell us whats wrong until the cows come home and nothing will change. Someone tell me what they're doing to correct the problems and then we're getting somewhere. After several calls to DPS and letters to my elected officials the reply were always excuses and not solutions. We know there's been an increase in applications and we know there was a hurricane.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm hoping I don't get a completed application notice this week. My Bday is Saturday and will make my lic valid a year longer if they approve it after.

Nothing on my front... still hearing 'waiting on the background check to be complete'. No help from State Rep or State Senator. No one really seems to care.

I am getting the same story from DPS and state reps.............. "Still waiting for the completed background investigation, thank you for your continued patience" Tomorrow will be 90 days since my packet was received in Austin. I cannot beleive the timeline required to complete a Background investigation when Everywhere Else, USA completes these in less than 30 days. Oh well maybe I will receive my plastic before I move and then cause more delays?

Hey Longtooth, didn't have to set up the tent. i checked the site this morning and it was posted "application complete, issuing license", well the wife called me at 2pm today, and she said........"Honey your license came in the mail today"

Day #80, status changed to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

Won't be long now.

Congrats. everytime I see someone else get theirs updated, I get my hopes up and go check the website...only to be disappointed.

Day 98 and counting, No help from Sen. Jacksons office, only a call saying they are still waiting on??????...you guessed it "BACKGROUND CHECK"...give the lucky winner a prize for that answer. I am not going to check my status anymore. I think that is why it feels longer because I am constantly checking my status at least 2-3 times a day. I need to just sit back and try to forget that I am waiting on it. It wasnt that big of a deal around day 60-70 until I started this email the Senetors office and checking my status every day and then twice a day and then 3 times a day. I will post up when I receive my plastic and let you guys know. Good luck to everyone and I hope your wait is not as long or longer than mine.

I'm on the same time line and dates as you are. Still nothing new, only "Processing Application". But my buddy in my class just last week had his change to "Complete". Oddly enough he had to resubmit some paperwork as did I (redo prints)

It is getting depressing now. I'm not impressed, Texas

Edit: I think as part of their check they scan the interweb for my posts and when they see me publicize my displeasure they put my packet at the bottom of the pile to teach me a lesson

Whats interesting to me is I haven't had to resubmit anything, but I'm still waiting like the rest of you.

Oh well. At this point I'm just going to grin and bear it.
