Is ridiculous how long it takes to go from "mailed" status online till you actually receive plastic. If I'm not mistaken, when I called to ask about this delay, they told me that they actually use a tortoise to take all the mail to the USPS. Something about it getting good gas mileage, and holds up well in wind storms.

Jonathan, a Seychelles giant tortoise living on the island of St Helena may be as old as 176 or 178 years. If this is true, he could be the current oldest living animal on Earth. (I think this is my mail carrier...just sayin')

'Mailed' really means sent to mail room, where it may sit 2-4 days before postmarked and sent. But hey, at least you know the end of the wait is near

Been in backround review for one month.Sent my paperwork in on 1/28.they received it on 2/20 and there I have sat in backround review.looked today 3/19 and still in backround review.Dont know what the hold up is,I have a clean record.

Finally progress. Moved to background check complete and to manufacturing pending.
Background check started around 2/21/13. Let's see how long the next phase takes to manufacture and mail.

Looks like we are about on the same timeline.
Manufacturing as of this morning. I figured it would take me longer since I was born abroad and do have 1 arrest. I'm taking a
trip to Georgia in April so hopefully I'll have it by then.

Looks like I'll have it soon, just passed the background check. I figured that my background check took a little longer since I've bounced around 5 states in the last 10 years working for failing aircraft manufactuers!
01/27/13 Took CHL course
01/28/13 Fingerprinting & mailed packet to DPS
01/30/13 Certified mail signed for by DPS
02/19/13 Status changed to documents received
02/19/13 Currently undergoing background check
3/20/13 Background check complete - manufacturing pending.
