They did. Back in April or May. About 30 of them. But the demand is so great, it soon overwhelmed the additional staffing as well.

They do not need to change deadlines, they need to do whatever it takes to comply with the law. It is a shame that the AG will not enforce the statute. They do not have the discretion to change anything. It will most likely take Mr. Cotton's effort that he is working on to get DPS to comply.

I am beginning to wonder if DPS is being forced to stall in the application process, because the govn't is getting more and more left-wing nut jobs in office. :headscratch

Day-141 I received two (2) calls from DPS this morning. I guess if you contact two state reps. you get two calls. Both told me some of the same stuff I have been hearing. "We are waiting for your back ground check to be completed" One told me that several DPS officers were working back ground checks for harris county. The other told me that there is only one officer doing the background checks. :headscratch
Both were really nice and understood why I was upset with the system. They both started getting a little miffed when I asked who I could contact to get things moving. I finally asked who the top dog on the food chain was in DPS. Steven C. McCraw is the new director. He has been there for about two weeks. I guess if I can find how to contact him, maybe I can get some answers. Start at the top and work your way down. I'm tired of getting the run around.
I told them that they are breaking the law and they dismissed that.

Just sit there and take it like a man!!! :deadhorse:

I have a feeling those of us who are associated with Harris County in any way will be waiting for a looooong time. I'm about halfway through my 5th month of waiting with no sign of any progress.

Harris County does not want anyone to have a CHL. I have other posts about stolen firearms. I spoke with a gun dealer yesterday who had some of his firearms stolen a year or two ago. He said if they are used in a crime, and Houston gets the firearms that I will eventually get the firearms back, but if Harris County does, they will refuse to return them to me. The exact thing happend to him. He even had a buddy who worked for Harris County, but his buddy didn't have enough weight to pull.

Who in Harris County doesn't want us to have CHL? The sheriff, the DA, the county judge, the county commissioners, the JPs, who? And how do you you connect that thought to the sheriff's department not returning guns recovered from robberies? And how does that influence the DPS having only 1 officer doing background checks?

he's not the first person to tell me that Harris County is kinda "anti-2nd ammendment."
