I am glad I am not the only one here feeling as if the clock slowed WAAAAAYYY down when I mailed my application. And yes, I do have to resist the very big urge not to check my status on the hour. Guilty as charged on that one, but in my busy practice, what else have I got to clear my mind between patients. So, I check.

I have a cowboy hat with a insert for my Sringfield Armory 1911. Hey, no coments on my big head. Flattery will only allow me to put two 1911's in my hat. Stay alive with a 45

I plan on a leg carry holster for my Glock 30 in 45 acp as well. Not gonna catch this Texan on the short end of a gun fight.

No updates, no pin, nothing. I keep checking the mailbox for a pin but nothing yet.

A little longer than some, but I'm in the works!

Man, what a cruel joke. Yesterday a former coworker who had mailed out his packet a week or so prior to me stopped by my office and told me he had just recieved his PIN from the state the day before. This afternoon, I walk out to the mailbox and sure enough, theres a letter from the DPS. I'm thinking "here we go, now I'm getting somewhere!" So i come back in the house, pour myself a little Friday afternoon toddy to celebrate this minor victory, open the letter only to find that my drivers license will expire soon and that I need to renew it..... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! Why do they torment me so????????

Packet Received in Austin- Jan 19th
Started Processing- March 17th
License Issued- April 7th

Now while I'm waiting on the postman to bring it to me I just have to decide weather I want the Nacho's or the Hot Dog on my Wally Walk & weather to carry the Glock 19 or the HK USPc...

Though there's obviously very little consistency in processing time, this is encouraging for me, since mine went to Processing 11 days after yours (though I was blessed with a short 23-day span to get it to Processing)

After 5 long months, my status was updated to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active". Waiting for plastic now.

Congratulations, crisp_one! Make sure you enter your time on DPS Processing Times in "General CHL Discussion" folder. Your plastic should come in 3 days like mine did. Then holster up and get out to Wally World.

Got my plastic yesterday.
So here's my timeline:

28 Oct 2007 - took the CHL class
2 Nov 2007 - mailed application
7 Nov 2007 - delivery confirmed
26 Nov 2007 - received PIN, checked online status = "Processing Application"
3 Dec 2007 - received letter, more info needed
7 Dec 2007 - i provided the the info they requested, online status = "Processing Application"
7 Apr 2008 - noticed that my status finally changed to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"
8 Apr 2008 - received plastic

Am going to treat myself to a new XD-9SC for being such a patient waiter.

Not a cruel joke this time. Recieved PIN today so now i can really get antsy as time continues to crawl..... (I'll bet they are now "Processing Application")

What is the hold-up?

There are no loan, debt, tax or criminal background issues vis-a-vis our applications. Our complete applications were both mailed separately on 17 December 2007 (nearly four (4) months ago). I received my CHL in mid-February 2008.

We're God fearin', debt payin' and law abidin' Senior Citizens. The problem/hold-up with her CHL is not with her background or the submitted package/s, the problem lies in Austin, TX!

21JAN - 02APR status online as "packet sent to applicant"
07APR received letter stating that the "special condition" I applied under (military) necessitated documentation that I did not provide. I do not remember seeing ANYthing about providing military documentation, however I may have overlooked that...still checking, but anyway... Letter stated that a current military ID and a copy of my 2008 orders was needed.
08APR I complied and sent a certified letter with copies of both my ID (front and back) and my current orders.
10APR status online as "incomplete documentation - detailed letter sent to applicant"

...
still waiting. Hurrying on up to wait. Hmph. What can ya do?

Word to the wise: even though my application did not say anything about providing military "proof," I suggest you copy your ID card, front and back, and send a copy of your current orders.
