DPS is really catching up with the backlog I think...decided to check my status today at work (which I almost never do) to make sure there wasn't an "application incomplete" status there. Really didn't expect to have it say, "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active".
Now for the daily mailbox checking to begin...
Number of days from receipt of app to completion: 71
Number of calls to DPS or letters to politicians: 0
(not meant to rub anyone's nose in it - just feel lucky that I didn't suffer a lot of the agonizing complications I've read about here)
Hang in there guys - looks like they are taking care of us June folks finally!

Awesome! That is good news. Congrats!
May I ask how many counties you listed as place of residence on the application? I've lived in Lubbock, Wichita and Collin. Wondering if that is going to slow down processing.

Thanks for the congrats
Counties for residence: Denton and Tarrant
Work: Dallas
Was talking to the ex-wife the other day (she just put in for her CHL) about how we are both glad we didn't have to list the residence in the sticks that we had lived - the courthouse was smaller than most 2 family houses - probably would've added to the wait significantly.

I emailed my state rep today since everyone seems to think it helps to get the reps involved. Let's see how well it works out.

Well just checked the mail and I received a copy of my DD 214 with a post it note on it to provide documents stating I had been hoorably discharged. Never seen a dis-honorable discharge before but I'm sure if thats the case it would be a diferent DD 214, or it would be noted on it somewhere.
Well I guess I can look on the bright side, at least someone is looking at my paperwork.
I'll put in the mail on Monday.

I just went ahead and sent them copies of my discharge "diplomas" from both the National Guard and Regular Army with mine along with a copy of my DD214. Let's hope that was enough to satisfy them for mine :)

When I go to check the status of my application this morning. This is what it said. "No application or license/certificate active." I checked it earler this week and it stated application in process. Does anyone know what this means?

Make sure you didn't click the "check your status" link under the CHL Instructor section. I've been guilty of that myself.
IF it still doesn't work, there have been a few reports of the site not working properly, and this message being displayed. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Wait a day or two, and check again.

I think that would be sufficient, I made a copy of the certificate and the orders for it and dropped them in the mail today.

My DD 214 states "Honorable Discharge", it's on line 24. Character of Service!!!!!

Does the status on the page ever change from processing application to approved, mailed etc? Or does it just stay that way until you get your plastic and typically from the time they start processing how long does it take to get it in hand? Another month?
