it's funny, I used to see this dude all the time hanging around a band I like (in dallas) that always had a fannypack on.
I just thought it looked dorky. very 80's.
after I got CHL'ed, I thought, Hrmmm, mebbe a gat is contained within.
after actually talking to the dude, yup. he's packin'.

so, my synopsis is that a CHL'er will see a FannyPack differently than a fashion conscious person.
same with Hawaiin shirts. I've seen plenty of dudes wearing Hawaaiin shirts that I am POSITIVE were not packing. unless it was in a smart carry!

point being, different things mean different things to different people.

and yes, carrying gets easier, more comfortable, and is always comforting.

I use this holster for my SP101 and it just disappears, I wear it appendix carry. It has a adjustable height and cant so you can get it just right! I have never found carrying IWB near my hip to be comfortable.

I hope it gets easier... cause I have to say I have been carrying my Glock 23 for a few days and I have to say just keeping my pants up is hard... I have a the Dual Carry Holster and its ok.. but once I put the gun in it seems to be heavy and pull my shorts or pants down... I ordered another one to try SuperTuck Deluxe and will try it, but I think I will go with a SOB on the belt next if this one does not work out good. I am a big guy and it being concealed no big deal but me being comfortable well that is a issue. Thanks D

By far, the most comfortable method of carrying I've found is my S&W 642 in either a Nemesis or Mika pocket holster. Through the summer, that was my EDC. I fully anticipate it getting a lot of carry time going forward, and am now looking for a good OWB holster for it.

I've ordered a MTAC Minotaur to carry the XD40 IWB now that it's cooling off. The IWB holster I had previously moved a little too much for my liking, and wouldn't stay open well enough to allow for reholstering. I'm thinking the kydex holster on the leather of the MTAC will work well at solving both of my problems. It comes highly recommended by members of all the forums I frequent, as does the Crossbreed (being a similar design).

Messenger bags are a very old idea.

I suspect they were first used by messengers riding horses, particularly notable in the Revolutionary War. In more recent history they are adopted for frequent use by bicycle messengers and other cyclists. The big advantage of a messenger bag over a back pack is they allow access to the contents of the bag without removing the bag from your person, which IMHO makes them ideal for CCW use. When riding a bicycle, motorcycle (or horse for that matter) you can swing the bag behind your back where it stays put pretty well (I have to reach back and adjust my bag's position if I have to sprint out of the saddle, like from a red light), and it's carried with your CCW available right at the 3:00 strong side position when you are walking. Given that the strap goes across your body, theft of the bag is less likely unless the snatcher cuts the strap. Another reason that a messenger bag is ideal for CCW use is that you can discretely unholster your hand gun while keeping it concealed, or even employ a ruse such as you are looking for something in the bag when you are really preparing for a potential draw, without actually having to draw the weapon out into the open.

IMHO just about the only downside to carrying in a messenger bag is the potential that you may become separated from your bag. If it were not for this drawback, I would carry in a messenger bag 100% of the time. If I am going to a destination where it is impractical for me to constantly keep my bag on my person, then I carry IWB. This pretty much means if I am going to a sit-down affair or if I have to carry other equipment (like a guitar), then the bag won't work.

That is very interesting. When I first heard you talking about a messenger bag that was what I had pictured in my mind was a guy on a bicycle delivering something. I have seen this in New York and places like that. But, I wasn't sure that was what you were talking about. They look like they would work real well and I do like them better than the fanny pack. I did search them and found many, but I like the one you have. I think the messenger bag is something worth looking into. Thanks, again Mr. 72.

You need to get a real gun belt.
