The only way one can change peoples minds is to get the posative infirmation out to the public. A web site by itself will not get it out. Newspaper articles, getting tv to cover guns in a posative way. Invite the local news (newspaper and tv) to shoots (PSA, etc.). Get it where the every day people see guns in an enlightened way as a posative, not a negative. Where they see the bad guy as the negative, not the gun.

And by bad guy you mean the politicians who vote to allow gangs and other violent criminals to attack students without risk the students can carry to fight back.

Do the older adult women; especially, the older adult women with a current CH license need to be excluded?
I think the point was reaching out to the people most at risk from the current student disarmament law, female college students, especially since many of them currently hold major misconceptions about armed self defense.
The older students can fend for themselves, eh?

I went to both hearings (HB 750 & SB 354) and there were a few little old ladies there, but there were a lot more young women ranting about their feelings being hurt by what they imagined fellow students might be wearing under their clothes.
If we can get the young women to switch sides, or even convince them to simply be more tolerant of others' life choices, that could make a big difference.

The older students are a minority and are more likely to understand the reasons for wanting to carry a gun on campus.
The opposition little Sally Sophmore from the suburbs that has never seen what the world can really be like but hears about scary school shootings on the radio between Katy Perry songs (that's who kids are listening to these days, right?) and is indoctrinated by her professors that guns are going to disturb the sacred learning environment. Sally is also the one that has time to campaign against campus carry too since Mommy and Daddy are paying for her education unlike the older student who has to hold down a job and take care of the kids in addition to taking a couple of classes in the evening.

I see your point; however, we should leave no student, forum member or tution paying parent behind.
Just sayin'...

No! No! No! We
CANNOT frame the discussion this way. I liked the term last night when I read this, but woke up this morning with a changed mind. Anything that is firearm related and has the word "student" in it will be turned against us.
Remember, the whole argument was framed by the antis thusly: "They want to
GIVE STUDENTS GUNS!"
I agree that "students" should not be emphasized in lieu of personal, individual security on, around, en route to, campus.

It mattered not how we politely and gently corrected their misunderstandings, the antis wailing about the NRA handing out "assault weapons" (sic) to drunk college freshmen on the way to a kegger in a frat house was what people heard - not the correct explanation of the law.
Sure, some heard it, but the damage was done. The media picked up the trope and ran with it. It is going to take someone smarter than me to come up with a semantic title that is going to be plain vanilla enough, yet get the point across correctly.
Thank you!
I have "cringed" all along at the use of the terms "Campus Carry/Student"... and the notion that it would allow STUDENT'S to carry a firearm. When you do this, you automatically set yourself up for an
explanation.
The bill was about allowing a PERSON who ALREADY has a CHL to extend that ability to protect
themselves to the campus. The idea that "students"
in general would be allowed to carry was erroneously fostered and spread by the anti's and media. They did so gleefully..and with great effect.
Put plainly, we shot ourselves in the foot...from the get-go.
The "emotion/fear" card WILL be played again....when a bill is introduced next session, so PLEASE.........!!!!!, lets start approaching this in a smarter fashion.

Campus Safety Act?
Takes the idea of the students carrying away, and puts emphasis on the campus safer for individuals.
Or the CHL Extension Act?
That's more to the point of what we want, but don't know if it's innocuous enough. Perhaps just the "License Extension Act". That could be any license.

emotion fear? 2 can play that game ...
This was one of my more thought provoking tweets on Twitter
TEXAS @BIKERIDERS @BICYCLERIDERS Best PANNIER/ saddlebags for handgun storage while in class? (STILL Not allowed inside campus building) #txlege
Austin is big on bike lanes on city streets, bicycling around campus/town etc, no emissions etc
Should give some legislators a facepalm "What did we do?"

The CHL Inclusion Act.

"campus safety"

"more guns don't make "campuses safer" is THEIR argument. (Negligent discharges, errant shots, confused police etc)
My "job" is not to make "campuses safer" that's their job (campus police, fire extinguishers/call boxes/better lighting/ replacing burned out light bulbs, locks on doors) but my job personal protection.
My job is worrying who will steal my gun concealed in my bicycle saddlebags/hidden in bushes/in my car for vehicular burglars since I can't take it inside.
================================================================================
My response to their arguments "more guns is not the answer" "guns on campus is not the answer"
is
"What was the question?"
We need to get people asking the right questions first.
Just a couple eye-opening, but actually theoretically realistic examples:
You want my gun stored on my bicycle for hours while I'm inside?
Would the monthly on campus armed robberies by non-students at Alamo colleges slow down?
Would on campus vehicular burglaries slow down if criminals knew CHLs weren't forced to store guns in cars?

Gunvault would have a new niche. Gun safes for bikes.
