In my case I am never showing my weapon...EVER! Like mentioned above, I always make sure my shirt is down when I get out of my vehicle and the physics of my shape do not allow for the wind to blow my shirt up in the air. Folks that work the gun counter at academy are constantly having people brag about having a CHL. heck!!! I have personally witnessed guys doing it. So yes... my experience would lead me to believe they were playing the "guess the gun toter game". Heck... I play the game and typically pick out the goofiest looking characters in the Walmart as CHLers. Laughing as I say... yeah...he has a gun... :biggrinjester: . It is humour to guys who have to listen to thirty dudes a day brag about being a CHLer.

Now to be sexist. I have NEVER witnessed a woman doing such a thing. Wonder what that is all about??? ;-)

All that being said Hoi. Like I mentioned in an earlier post... my first response would most likely be,,, what gave me away? So I do agree with what you posted and think most of us would at the least do a quick shirt check with our strong side hand.

We're just more discreet.

I must brag in saying I have a pretty good track record on confirmed hits. My husband typically notices the tactical clothes. I typically notice the layered shirts, with the outside shirt often having a single button fastened toward the bottom. Men who do it for style are typically wearing firm, starched, color-coordinated, current shirts with expensive and stylish pants.

Men who do this for utility stand out for the older, breezier outer shirts with gauche patterns that don't fit their perceived personality or age bracket, the dull and worn undershirts that often don't color-coordinate with the outer shirt (I'm thinking of you Mr. Blue Hawaiian Shirt paired with the Black V-Neck T-shirt with Utility Pocket), and they frequently wear them with a pair of jorts or similar style travesties. :smilelol5: It stands out like a sore thumb once you pick up on the pattern.

I assume a woman could get away with more than a man with all other things being equal before she'd be suspected. Just a guess I have that carrying guns isn't strongly associated with women. Younger people of either gender are harder to pick out, though vests in summer and funny packs and the like are dead giveaways for anyone.

Older looking guys get benefits
I wear a T-shirt that's long enough to be a night shirt almost, (TALL) covered by a guayabera shirt which has 4 front pockets.
The 2 lower pockets are STUFFED with chapstick, keys, candy, Kleenexes etc to create bulges.
The bulges not only create extra bulges, but they weight down the top shirt so it doesn't bl;ow up in the wind, and the TALL T shirt won't "ride up" that far anyway.

WHAT? Speak up, I don't hear so well ... too many years of cranking up the volume playin' Beatles records I guess ....

no I don't have any gum, but I have some hard candy....

by the way, where's your pistols that are on sale?

Many women wear clothing far worse than "jorts" in the name of fashion.

Jean shorts and a t-shirt is my weekend uniform. Never realized they were a fashion faux pax. Compared to some of the hideous things I see worn like skin tight tapered leg jeans on guys and Fidel Castro wannabe hats on girls, I guess I don't really care.

And then there's one Ms Daisy Duke and her "jorts"...

I just realized when I start carrying:, my wife may be a fan from the fashion aspect. I'll be more likely to go with a nice button up with an OWB setup. I see a selling point!

The one thing that stood out to my wife when she took the eldest and her grandkids to the fair was the way the cop looked at her during the CHL process. She said he looked positively dumbfounded as he looked her over and finally shrugged like, "I never would've guessed". Yup, an attractive well dressed woman can get away with a lot and never garner a second look.

I tend to be fairly short with my answers when not interested in the conversation. So I would have probably just said nope Leroy.

Never been asked what that bulge is by PD or anyone else, and I am in close proximity to officers from multiple agencies on many days. I figure it must not be a very obvious growth on my right hip, so I don't worry about the untrained eye.
