This is the speed test. I'm not on true 4G network here in San Angelo, so i'm excited to see what it will do in one of the bigger cities--ATX or DFW.

I got iOS 6 on Wednesday and my phone is so screwed up! I give it a full charge and for the next 2 hours, it is hot (110 degrees) for the next two hours. The battery runs down to about 40 percent during that time. Then it miraculously cools off, and will run for another 24 hours on the charge. With 12 apps running and the iPod playing music at max volume, it ran for over an hour at 1% battery.

Crazy!

It sounds like you have a defective battery or battery-related components. Take it to an Apple store ASAP. Even if they are sold out of iPhone 5's, they still have other iPhone 5's set aside for replacements. An extremely similar thing happened to me when I got my iPhone 4 on the day of release. The next day I took it to the Apple store and got a replacement.

Set it back to factory setting through iTunes. Your issue is most likely software related. I ran into this on my last iPhone 4 when I did an OS upgrade, and I have run into it twice now on my users phones. (I do IT support). The first time, I thought I had a bad battery, but after calling Apple support, mthey suggested setting the phone back to factory settings, and it fixedd it. Mit also fixed it on the oher phones that had the same problems.

I would try it before you go replace the phone.

When I took my iPhone 4 in, they took it in the back and analyzed it. They said it was a glitch with the software, but I told them I wasn't comfortable with it so they swapped it. You can certainly try doing a reset on it, and see if it goes away, but if it doesn't, you definitely need to swap it. I don't work IT, but I know how stuff works, and when something heats up when it shouldn't, that greatly concerns me.

I upgraded my IPhone 4S to the new software IOS6 and my phone seems to be running better and faster. No issues so far. I do like the Do Not Disturb function, using SIRI to launch Apps, the new maps with turn by turn voice, and the VIP email box. These were worth the upgrade in my opinion.

This thread is hilarious!

Or it would be if it didn't sound so girly-manish or perhaps it would be more accurate to describe this hysteria as metro-manish.

Gentlemen, get a grip.

Get unrestrained about a new firearm or maybe a new ax, or in my case a new zero turn mower AND a new ax, but a dinky little piece of computer plastic that also acts as a phone, (most often endlessly chatted on when completely unnecessary, but I digress...)

Of course, a few centuries back it was fashionable for men to wear powdered wigs and makeup so I guess all this all this estrogenic fervor presages a new dawn of men expressing their feminine side...

Has nothing to do with metro--and everything to do with nerdy. Some of us are tech-nerds.... I don't see how that is so offensive, but I digress.....

Not offensive - sad.

Tech-nerd stuff in general is a great boon to mankind, but when I see a group of guys get together and rather than socialize, most all start inanely blathering on cell phones, or unnecessarily and manically rush into texting or idly navigate the internet, I shudder. And I witness this bizarre phenomenon often.

Kinda reminds of a quilting bee, just more matronly...

I'll stick with my Android EVO. I just had to get a new one (my old one's internal safety circuits were fried), and with the warranty, it was significantly less than an iPhone.

Embracing Technology - now there's some manly terminology...right?

(Certainly embracing Twitter can't be considered narcissistic or girly - right?)

Alright, I guess I'm exhibiting my Neandertal-like bias as I just came in from splitting wood using steel wedges, my new ax, and 3 & 10 lb hammers so presumably my testosterone levels are peaking.

Alright, I'm ribbing "you" that find puny plastic talking machines somehow enormously interesting. Obviously, I do too to some extent or I wouldn't be here...

I guess I'm concerned that some of the younger crowd that seem so fascinated by phone/internet technology are muscle-less wimps who surprisingly seem to actually like girls, but aren't particularly manly. Seem to never get off the sidewalk, are pale and rather weak in overall appearance, but are good guys.

However, their ardent interest in things that aren't available in the natural world worries me.

Weak, pale, muscle-less, but yes, brainy men seem not to spell good things for the future.
