The range closes at 6pm.
No, you may bring your own ammo. If you want to shoot on the 100 yrd rifle line, you cannot use FMJ. They have ammo at the place to buy if you would like.
And the 100 yard area requires a 3x or better scope. The 50 yard area does not require magnification.

I'm gonna do my darnedest to be there. If I do I'll bring some venison link sausage that's smoked and just needs to be heated. BTW How many are shooting doing shotguns?

It's so sad that the irresponsible few cause such restrictive rules to be enacted.

Don't bring your clays. Elm Fork provides them as well as the throwers.
fair enough, instead of bringing clays perhaps I can bring cheesecake if that has any interest. I'll wait for the covered dish thread & see what the preferences might be.

I have RSVP'd for myself and my son-in-law. I can bring smoked venison sausage if someone will let me know how much. It's already cooked, so it only needs to be heated. I like to get it hot enough on the grill to get the "juices" going and get a little "snap" to the casing.

You''ll have to check with Elm Fork to see if their throwers can handle cheescake.

Well, that's a dumb question..................................All of it of course.
Bring what ever you feel like sharing. I think we have about 25 folks coming right now.

Could someone explain about this to those of us who haven't been involved before? What is involved? Is there a "program" or plan of events? Or is it just a meet & greet?

A little of both, but fairly informal. The one we had last year, they are not regularly scheduled events, everyone showed up about the same time within probably 30 minutes or so of each other and we shot for a while. We got a bunch of spaces on the benches in the pistol area and shot what we had. Most brought more than one gun and just left them sitting on the bench for others to shoot. I brought my Henry .44mag and a box of ammo along with my Glocks. I shot my first AR that day and someone's 45-70 and a few .380's. After shooting a while we all went to lunch and then some returned to the range to shoot skeet.

I don't think cheesecake could survive the centrifugal force of a trap, but I have had fruitcake that could survive it handily. It probably wouldn't break apart to indicate a hit, though.

Hi folks,
For those that do not know Range hours on Saturday are 9:00 am - 6:00 PM
I propose we try to meet at 10:00 am, shoot the pistol range, BBQ and eat at 12:00
Then shotguns and rifles after.
I invited Chris Alcedo the President of Dallas Action Pistol Shooters (DAPS for short)
to give a short talk on the difference between International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), and US Practical Shooting Association (USPSA)
and the needed equipment for each. I intend to ask Sam (range manager) if I can get a contact for shotgun and rifle shooting sports to come and represent their sports.
I tried to get Mr. Cotton to come up but he is teaching a class that day and cannot make it.
I also recommend all CHL instructors bring some business cards. Folks please try to bring a friend or two to the shoot.
The more people that meet mature professional CHL holders the less hestiera there is over us carrying guns. You'll be surprised how many people say they support the 2A then feel weird about people actually doing it. Promoting the 2A is important. But in a responsible manner.
This can be a great opportunity to introduce others to shooting and support for the 2A.
I'll be going up to meet with Sam and get any instructions and info he may want to share.
