Interesting tidbit I thought I would share:
Three weeks ago I got call saying I was approved and off to printing, after three weeks of waiting with no status change and no CHL in the mailbox I called back and was told I was still under review--Fuming, is the only word to describe it. I was called yesterday and told that my first technician hit the wrong button in the interface and that was all that was wrong, so instead of sending it to print, the technician sent it back to review. Apparently this is an easy mistake to make.
So, if you are waiting on your plastic and your mailman is looking at you as though he is trying to decide if he will need to defend himself, you might call and make sure that you were not accidentally sent back to review rather than being sent to print.

Well this sucks, everybody seems to be getting their plastic or at least a status change. I called at the end of last week and was told that my application had entered background on the April 22 and from what I have seen the background can take 4-6 weeks, I received an email on 5/2/2016 stating that the application was being processed and that it could take up to eight (8) business weeks to complete. Well it had been 11 business weeks when I received the email stating it could take 8 business weeks.
I am not calling again or emailing anymore, it seems that they are catching up but working backwards.

Hang in there. I talked to a lady the other day and she said my application had started being "processed" on April 7th and it could take up to 30 days to approve. For reference, my website status changed today. My RSD Confirmation was received on Feb 10th so hopefully you'll get some positive news in the next week.

Checked this morning and the web page status has changed. Also, checked for my wife who has identical time table, and web page reflects mine.
At least their is one advantage to living in San Antonio. TxDPS mailed my wife and my license yesterday, and today they were in our mail box. The cool thing is that like the drivers license, the expiration is on your birthday. My wife and I are both born in the same month so we can renew at the same time.
So with that said, I wish those who are still waiting the best of luck.

After reading the reports in the waiting room the last few weeks, (BTW, I had to google the "where was the final battle for Texas independence skill testing question for registration...), I didn't think I would get mine until end of May maybe June. But mine just came in the mail today! I had checked the website yesterday (and everyday the past 6 weeks), but my status didn't change. I checked it just after I picked up the mail and it had changed, the same day I received the plastic!
Application paid: end of Dec 2015 (can't remember the dates)

I am a permanent resident, not a citizen, and I was worried that my application would be delayed, just like every time I purchase a firearm.
Anyhow, I am a happy dude

5/06- Called to check on status of application. Was told on 05/04 application was approved and sent to printing. Said it could take up to 14 days from the approved date
