One woman died two others wounded in an apartment shooting early this morning.
A woman shot her husband to death in what could be self defense.
87, and I’m calling the second 88.

So the guy beats his wife, wife gets a protective order against her husband. He is released on bond.
He murders his wife and murders the poor guy installing cabinets in her house.
He’s charged with capital murder and is released on bond again.
How it works in Houston now.
Haven’t found the bond release story as it’s recently happened.

May have to scroll down on some of those links, look for entries for 23 and 24 May.
Unbelievable.
The legislature was fairly prompt at convening an investigation to impeach one of the University of Texas board of governors or directors members who had the temerity to dig into the fast-track admissions policy that UT granted certain legislators, including then-Speaker Straus. I wonder if they will find the energy to look into this judge.

ETA:
Looking at a picture of the order releasing Bullock on bond, this was done in January.

What do we think we're up to, 93?
At first I thought HPD would be releasing statistics only once per quarter, but it looks like it's every month...only it takes 5 or 6 weeks to update the Excel spreadsheet. Latest version, January through April, is here:
https://www.houstontx.gov/police/cs/xls ... -FINAL.xls. One also wonders why they're using an old version of Excel...at least, they're using the old .XLS format which was superseded in 2007 with the release that year MS Office's adaptation of the Open XML standard. Oh well; still works.

The old version is more compatible with old software and other venders. I try to port to XLS when I am not sure what software people are using. I use LibreOffice though, not MS Office and my spreadsheets are usually pretty simple.

Gotcha. Googled it in fact and found this useful quotation: "If you have to use the Excel formats, then the most compatible version
[for LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice] is the .XLS for Windows 98/XP."
Something I need to keep in mind because I admit I've only had to share so far with MS Office users or on Google Sheets.
