I'm not sure on your question either, I've lived in 3 different counties in the past 5 years, but all have been in Texas. I've been on bg check/fingerprints under review for a little over a month now. I'm wondering if it's who gets assigned to your paperwork in the office as well as different counties taking different process times as to how fast things get done, because on this forum I've noticed it takes some people as little as 10 business day from acceptance to issuing, but then there's been SEVERAL months involved too. So who knows, best of luck in your wait! And welcome to the forum everyone!

eyestothesky wrote:Anyone else that can shed any light on their experience with the wait time if they lived out of state within the timeframe that the application asks for? Since the application asks for 5 years of residential addresses and I didn't live in TX 3 years ago I think it is gumming up my app. It probably also doesn't help that I've had 3 addresses in the 3 years I've been here.
All of my documents were submitted/accepted by the end of July. My background is the only thing under review and it's been that way for a month.
I had to include 4 addresses (including out of state), but I only submitted everything on 8/16/2016, so I haven't waited anywhere near as long as you have (still waiting). But there's at least 1 person here who submitted paperwork on same day as me who has already has everything approved, so maybe that's why.
I'm not an expert by any means and I'm also new here, but I would speculate that they probably pull everything from databases simultaneously and should theoretically take the same amount of time (unless if you have criminal history, then multiple addresses might be more of a factor, or maybe that's just because there's another layer of approval?). Logically, I just don't see why it would take more time because I can't imagine these background checks not to be automated to a certain degree (I would imagine they would pull data from each place you lived together rather than pulling data from 1 address and waiting until they have that until checking the next - which would be very inefficient).
But again, not an expert by any means, but that's my guess. I'm interested to hear with how much longer it takes for your CHL to be mailed because that might be a good indicator for how long I can expect to wait (if your suspicion of multiple residences is a factor after all)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm in a high population county so maybe there's just a lot of backlog.

does anyone know how frequently the LTC STATUS page updates? is it live time or daily? I live in Harris County (Houston) and have been in BG review status for 21 days know. I realize it's well within the 6-8 week range as stated in my all in email but i've been seeing folks getting approved inside a week to 10 days. only this address for 18 years. thanks - Joe

It seems that most people seem to get updates on Tuesdays, others in this forum have noted the Tuesday theme as well. But I've seen a few people say they've received status updates on other days. I know mine status changed on 7/26, which was a Tuesday.

Hey Joe,
My status went from No Status to everything green but BG and mailing on the 25th (Thursday). Each update after that was overnight, so the 26th (Friday) BG was complete, and I woke up on the 30th (Tuesday) to it being in Mailed status. I certainly don't think it's live, but I don't think it's weekly either... except for "Mailed", from what I read that seems to only happen on Tuesdays. I could be wrong, it's happened before.

Found this forum 8-30-16 with the link to check my status. Not sure how to post a screen capture of my status, but it's all green and says mailed. Does this mean my plastic has been mailed?
Yeppers, it does. Watch your mailbox, and congrats!
Oh, and welcome to the Forum.

Happy to hear. Thank you. I'm glad I found this forum..

It has arrived. Plastic in hand 9-1-16

dcrot1 wrote:Ok... so I am new to the forum... found it by searching LTC wait times.... mine has progressed nicely so far.... here is my timeline:
Aug 6- took the proficiency class
August 15- fingerprints at identogo and all supporting documents uploaded to DPS
August 24- everything went green on the site except the last two... awaiting background and print pending
August 25- background complete!
So, I should have plastic in hand sometime next week (judging by others experiences). This has all progressed way faster than I expected....
UPDATE: Aug 29 mailed!!!
Sept 1: Plastic in hand!
So just over 3 weeks total turnaround..., not bad at all!

Little over a month! Woke up this morning to background completed! So excited to excersise my 2a at a younger age, especially seeing a lot of folks much older than me having it.

Vince, It varies for each applicant but mine stayed there for about 7 business days. Welcome to the forum!

Ah okay, can't wait to get mine! Going to drop off my RMR'd M&P CORE tonight to have a holster made for it, then I'll just be waiting for my license.

How are you liking the m&p with a rmr?

Hi Vince,
Mine sat like that for 7 business days after I got the confirmation email that all of my documents had been received. After that, 2 business days in Background check pending and now I'm in Print Pending. I'm hoping I'll have mine in hand next week!
