Hey folks. Finally got around to digging up my dates and posting them in my sig.

I figured maybe if I didn't look them up, it would feel like it came faster then it did? lol

Background: Military Vet, moved to Texas from NY in 2004. Raised on guns, both parents had NYS Pistol Permits (which are harder to get in NY to just OWN a handgun, then a CHL is to get in texas).

Finally decided that my Home Defense Shotgun wasn't enough, and that if I wanted to protect myself and my family any/everywhere, I had to join the 24/7/365 carry community. I think someone else nailed it on the head in another thread; As soon as you start actually paying attention, and looking and reading, you notice a lot more violent crime going on that you didn't, or wouldn't have noticed before.

Ignorance to it doesn't mean it won't happen to you. What it DOES mean is you will be unprepared for it if/when it does.
I don't want to ever join the ranks of those who spend the rest of their lives tormenting themselves with 'What If...' after something happens to them or a member of their family.

I also believe that the current 'recommended practice' that complying 100% with someone who is armed, and pointing a gun at you is wrong. All it does it tell criminals that pointing a gun at someone guarantees compliance. And to me, that encourages armed crime even further. Plus, it doesn't even guarantee you won't get killed, as a recent murder in NorthWest Houston demonstrated. I ain't goin out like that.

I am generally a pretty forgiving and tolerant person. Punch me, beat me, fine, I can take it, I can forgive that.

However, if you point a gun at me or member of my family, to me, you have just voluntarily given up your right to life, and I will do my hardest to take what you have given up.

Anyways, got a little off tangent. At the current rate, looks like I'll be getting my CHL sometime in July-ish :)

I was really excited when I got something from the DPS - WOW - a PIN # in just 2 weeks! Wrong - just a reminder to renew my TDL <sigh> Oh well, back to the ammo hunt. I did go ahead order a Tucker Silent Thunder IWB last week. I have heard great things about their products and service.

^^^^^ I sent in applications for both me and my wife on the same day you did. I've been checking the mail daily.... no joy yet. I'm really looking forward to something besides bills and junk mail, even if it's just the PIN. :waiting:

Well Great news sent my application in April 28th and DPS got in on the 29th. I checked today and my application is in processing. I am one step closer. I am surprised to see that in 15 days I am already in processing. Now lets hope for no problems and it get here. I am addicted to checking status, is there a meeting for that. : )

Wow. How did you manage that? :-)

Mine was sent at the beginning of April and when I checked earlier today, it still says "Packet Mailed to Applicant"!!
